Richt has not been talked about much in recent weeks, so I wanted to remind everyone why I think he would be a perfect hire down here.

1. UM Alum (So he would meet the criteria of having ties to UM)
2. Coaching Experience (Richt has 15 years of coaching experience and has only one sub .500 season)
3. Success (Richt won the SEC twice in his career, won the his side of the SEC 6 times and was SEC coach of the year twice).
4. Recruiting (Richt is known as a very good recruiter and has success recruiting South Florida. He also stole Sony Michel from Miami).

I'm a fan of Mark Richt and would love to see Miami make a serious move for him. He has had success in his time at Georgia and would absolutely kill it at Miami in this weak ACC conference. Many of you will say that he has done less with more, but will fail to mention that he has gone up against some pretty strong teams. Richt has had to deal with Saban at LSU, Les Miles and LSU Tim Tebow and the Gators, Cam and Auburn, Saban at Alabama. That's a total of 8 national championships coming from the SEC in the 15 years that he has been at Georgia.

UM fans are not in a position to say they wouldn't want a coach like Richt to come back home and coach our Canes. Two out of our last three coaches didn't have any coaching experience before they got the job and the other was coaching at Temple (SMDH). I would love for Butch to come back and coach, but the unknown worries me. For example, Butch is 63, hasn't coached in about 5 years, would he really bring Mario as his coach in waiting. Those are serious concerns.

Moving on, I think the chance to come back to his alma mater would be very enticing to a Richt. I believe that he would assemble a pretty good staff and we should consistently battle and win the ACC.

He's a ***** , too soft on Gameday. Def a hall of fame underachiever given talent, coaches, etc. he's had. **** him.

I don't think his teams have been as talented as other big time SEC schools like Bama, LSU and UF with Meyer. Good coach, UGA is a tier below those other schools, always have been. The knock on him is baseless, IMO. Like the OP said dude is gets **** for losing to NC teams. He was a play away from beating Saban and Bama in the SECCG in a game where no one gave them a chance a few years ago.

Sorry bruh, but you're not going to get objective views on here. If you throw a name outside of Butch, you are a "potato", if it's not Davis they don't want to hear it

There's been a lot of problems in Athens this year. Pruitt has been trying to take over. He and Richt got into it, per players, but it was covered up. The boosters think he's a good guy, but that he's not the coach to get them over the hump, and are making a push for him to exit on his own terms. They don't want to have to fire him. I don't think he's the right fit for Miami. Miami needs someone with the personality to dominate all the BS that goes on in South Florida.

I'd take Richt in a second. He'd be viewed as a home run, and a hire that shows we are committed as winning to the nation at large even if not the people on sites like this.

We got SFL media talkin up Mario and idiots on here saying pass on Mark Richt. Unbelievable

I would take Richt all day and twice on Sunday. He is a former UM qb, has recruited SoFla well and has ties throughout the South and has been successful in the most competitive conference in the country. IMHO he is the best coach that has been discussed so far and would bring immediate credibility and stability to the program.

I hope the search committee zero's in on him because it seems the time might be right for him to make a move and "come back home".

No. If he hasn't won a championship yet, he's not going to get one.

Georgia gives a coach a great opportunity to compete for championships.

He hasn't gotten it done.

He's a nice guy and an alumnus, but you need to win championships at Miami - the real ones.....

He has turned us down before. The only reason he would consider it is if he is getting fired for not getting it done at UGA. GA is another top recruiting ground and Mark has virtual monopoly on it plus access to FL and SC. If we don't hire Butch, he is another attractive coach to come in and probably fail, thereby ending his career. THE U is a great job for the right coach. Howard, JJ and Butch were those coaches. Dennis and Coker lived off recruits left behind by, well, by Butch. Then they failed. Mark is not JJ or Howard and will not have a team full of Butch recruits. My money is on failure.

Ok coach - his prime coaching days are behind him. If you are okay with a 8-9 win team.. He's your guy. I know a few diehard UGA fans and they have all told me that UM should not go down the richt path - he's just not that elite coach that we need.

Also, he's used to doling out money bags during recruiting using boosters. He won't have that anymore.

Richt being hired would signal that championships are a thing of the past for this program. He was a loser as a QB and is a failure as a head corch who has had enough talent to win a ship somewhere along the way, or ****, even just make it to the **** title game. Fold this website if that guy gets the job.

We coukd do worse . I dont know, there were timea he gad the best QB in the SEC and the country probably, still lost his 2/3 games a season. Seema thats his ceiling.

Agree, but he's still way better than our last 3 hires

Not my first choice but please give me Richt in a second if the other finalists end up being some of the garbage names being thrown around. At least he has a god**** respectable longterm record. It'd be real interesting to see if some of the mental giants are saying pass on Richt but give me Strong.

It's sort of interesting with Erickson - he was the "offensive" coach out of the group yet his QBs didn't amount to anything - Collins, Clement, Costa, , Fortay, (Chris) Walsh...

His top QBs were Craig Erickson and Gino Torretta, from the Johnson era.

Davis immediately got Covington, who was decent (though with a sieve for an OL thanks to Erickson) and then Dorsey....And Kenny Kelly was probably better than anyone that Erickson had as well....

He wasnt the recruiter that Butch was, but Erickson could coach circles around Butch on gameday. Not even close.
