Mark Richt

Richt has not been talked about much in recent weeks, so I wanted to remind everyone why I think he would be a perfect hire down here.

1. UM Alum (So he would meet the criteria of having ties to UM)
2. Coaching Experience (Richt has 15 years of coaching experience and has only one sub .500 season)
3. Success (Richt won the SEC twice in his career, won the his side of the SEC 6 times and was SEC coach of the year twice).
4. Recruiting (Richt is known as a very good recruiter and has success recruiting South Florida. He also stole Sony Michel from Miami).

I'm a fan of Mark Richt and would love to see Miami make a serious move for him. He has had success in his time at Georgia and would absolutely kill it at Miami in this weak ACC conference. Many of you will say that he has done less with more, but will fail to mention that he has gone up against some pretty strong teams. Richt has had to deal with Saban at LSU, Les Miles and LSU Tim Tebow and the Gators, Cam and Auburn, Saban at Alabama. That's a total of 8 national championships coming from the SEC in the 15 years that he has been at Georgia.

UM fans are not in a position to say they wouldn't want a coach like Richt to come back home and coach our Canes. Two out of our last three coaches didn't have any coaching experience before they got the job and the other was coaching at Temple (SMDH). I would love for Butch to come back and coach, but the unknown worries me. For example, Butch is 63, hasn't coached in about 5 years, would he really bring Mario as his coach in waiting. Those are serious concerns.

Moving on, I think the chance to come back to his alma mater would be very enticing to a Richt. I believe that he would assemble a pretty good staff and we should consistently battle and win the ACC.

Richt is way better than a lot of names being thrown out there. He's a good coach, and easily in the 2nd tier for me. Those of you saying "fold the program" are being ridiculous. That's a phrase for Mario and Strong, Schiano and Chud, not Richt.

Yeah, I realized that. My point is that more often than not he has to face one or a few every year.

Despite the fact that he went to Miami, I've heard that richt would not want to live down here. After all those years in Tallahassee and Athens I can understand how he'd be used to that pace.

I think we need to play this hire safe. A good solid coach like Richt will at least win 10 games every year playing in the coastal division. This will give us time to rebuild our name because right now 17 year old kids see us on the same level as UVA and GTech. Another ***** up like Golden and it may be time to fold the program.

true but nothing excuses how bad that team is right now. i'm not sure having chub would even make that much of a difference.

He was definitely better on game day than Butch. However, choosing between the two, it's not a contest for me - it's Butch....

He wasnt the recruiter that Butch was, but Erickson could coach circles around Butch on gameday. Not even close.

5-10 vs UF.

If you are into conservative, bland coaches then Richt is your man. I'm not sure many have watched UGA play lately.

Ok coach - his prime coaching days are behind him. If you are okay with a 8-9 win team.. He's your guy. I know a few diehard UGA fans and they have all told me that UM should not go down the richt path - he's just not that elite coach that we need.

Also, he's used to doling out money bags during recruiting using boosters. He won't have that anymore.

I don’t get the 8-9 wins statement - 9 out of the last 13 years (not counting this year since we don't have complete data) Georgia has won at least 10 games. That is essentially 70% of the time he is in the double digit Win column.

Second tier guy that could stabilize the program for the next guy. Will get killed by our fan base. I won't be as mad with him as a coach as cristobal. I just don't like cause u failed at uga u think u can come back here. Dude had a chance could have came and stabilized us but he was all uga. he's an offensive coach and his oc choices and offensive coaching has been pretty bland/bad

Richt being hired would signal that championships are a thing of the past for this program. He was a loser as a QB and is a failure as a head corch who has had enough talent to win a ship somewhere along the way, or ****, even just make it to the **** title game. Fold this website if that guy gets the job.

Loser as a QB? Okay, check this out starting at 14:00
