Mark Richt

He does not possess a killer instinct. He can coach, and place talent in a place to succeed....but he just does not have that "it" factor you need to win, and put away a tight game. He has never fielded a Georgia team that other teams are intimidated by.

Miami MUST have a coach that inspires other teams to be intimidated by us.......BUTCH **** DAVIS

Richt does less with more than any other coach in the history of college football. Dude has had major depth every single year and his team stays the same.

And butch Davis does? What has butch Davis won that mark richt has not? (as a head coach)

Mark richt has a much better resume than butch Davis. Butch recruited the best team of all time, so much so in fact that they didn't even need a real coach (Coker) and they still win a championship and nearly won a 2nd one, which goes into question how great was he at coaching and how likely is he to hit those same home runs on recruiting (will be a lot harder now and a lot less likely)

Richt would be an amazing hire and should be the number one option

The anti-savage, no thanks.

Somehow we have resorted to taking about coaches that are getting fired from major programs bc they can't get it done.

I mean this in the most respectful way:

When the vocal fan base starts the search by suggesting a guy that was fired by UNC, and hasn't been sniffed by any other major programs for their openings, we shouldn't be shocked that the search leads to other older coaches who used to be good, but may need a change of scenery.

When you make the argument; "Butch Davis isn't a fit at any other place but Miami", then you open the door for other coaches to be evaluated in that same light. It's how Mario and Chud become options ... Because the Hurricane connection carries more weight than it should. Now, Richt and Strong are in the mix because of their South Florida recruiting ability, not based on their recent history.

But if you're not judging Butch Davis on his recent history, then every candidate gets to pick the window of time they were the most successful over the past 15 years ... And they get to exclude the not so great times, because they have Hurricane of South Florida recruiting ties.

People who want Butch really shouldn't be knocking Mark Richt ... They're actually very similar, IMO.

No. I want a cutthroat ************ who demands ruthlessness on the field.

Richt is hugging his kicker, telling him he loves him, and acts like a pastor to his team.

He was let go from UNC because of the investigation! Before he was cleared of any wrongdoing! UNC's AD stated that he made a mistake in letting Davis go prematurely.

Note that most at UNC think that Butch was fired prematurely and have publically stated that it was a mistake - including the school's president.

I like mark richt but is there a coach out that is still employed( golden would be #1 ) that achieve less with as much talent he has in year in and year out? Let's face it he is a nicer "bo pelini" who can consistently get you at least 9 wins year in and year but win big games only sometimes. I think he can win big at Miami playing in the coastal but we will see. He wouldn't be a bad hire

His resume gets thrown out the window when you think that an NFL team went and seeked out Butch to offer him a job. Richt never even has had his resume looked at...and if he gets fired at UGA...wont be getting nfl looks either......he'd be maybe running a mid major or a team like MINN/ ILLINOIS.
