Mark Richt negativity

I'm ecstatic that the admin is taking this serious and spending real money, it's a standard now.

I'm going to wait and see what Richt puts on the field before I crown him.

The choir sang for Butch, the administration hired a choir boy. Still, there has been almost universal support for Mark despite that. I have seen almost no negativity about Mark. Personally, I think Butch was better choice to return us to glory but Mark will beat FSU, win Coastal and ACC. He might even get us into playoffs. If that is your negativity then ok.

A bunch of loud mouths were chanting for Butch. Hurricane fans wanted the best guy available and we got that. Butch would have sent the wrong message. There have been questions about our commitment to the football program. Butch is not a four million dollar a year coach. It would have looked as if we were trying to do things on the cheap again. Hiring Richt says that all the rhetoric about our commitment to football wasn't hot air. If Richt does fail it will be easier to attract big name coaches in the future.

Yes it luckily ended up that way...please stop like it was a choice between Richt and Butch the whole time and the "right" decision was made.

Richt literally fell into UM's lap after saying no to the opportunity...pure luck of the draw and fortuitous timing. Sure, they pulled the trigger once they stumbled upon it...and thank God they did, but only a complete idiot wouldn't have after the few better options looked completely hopeless.

Also, Butch taking less money to secure more for assistants would not have been the end of the world...regardless of how u try and spin it.

We got the better coach in today's market, but he was hardly on the table the entire time.
UM

Miami is spending money on the assistants too Blake James further confirmed that multiple times in his interview with the 790 ticket radio interview this week

Agreed that he fell into our lap but in the past would you have had the faith in this school to hire someone of the caliber of Richt had he been available? In 2007 we had to go with Shannon because they were unwilling to pay to get anyone of substance. Then with the next hire we go with a Temple guy that most of us had to google to find out about. It was only after big name coaches questioned our commitment to the program that they finally woke up.

Let's face it anyone b*tching about this hire is a lunatic, just think about it Miami wasn't hiring Butch because of their "concerns", I don't think he ever had a legit chance, if we didn't hire richt we would have gotten a much worse coach with schiano. Would you have been satisfied then?...

How many national championships had ANY of our previous coaches won before coming to Miami?

I'll hang up and listen.

When Fuentes beats us next year. That will prove we never win the CoasHal, ever.

ND and FSU will prove that Richt can't win big games.

Gotta say I am behind the OP . Lots of fans ****ed but none with much intelligence so who cares? The former players love the hire and so do the football minds. Also UGA fans are ****ed ( as a whole ) that Richt is gone - that says a ton.

Banners calling for Fraulden's firing, and replacement by Butch, put a gun to the BOT's head. They did fire the fraudster, and had to replace him with someone comparable to Butch, if not Butch. However, Butch himself might have been doomed by the banners. The BOT might not have wanted to be perceived as being too influenced by the rabble.

At the very minimum, Butch served as the talent barometer for a head coach. The search committee might have been charged with finding someone comparable to Butch. Then Richt fell into their lap.

In the end, the banners, and Butch, were instrumental in getting us a new competent coach.

True I agree with some of this

If he goes 7-6 we shall see.
He didn't even 7-6 with the ****show Georgia was before 2010 when his team was so hurt he was starting 3rd stringers

Went 9-3 with virtually no qbs, and losing Nick Chubb as well

These guys are hilarious. This guy says they've moved on from Butch but keep bringing him up. That the banners were instrumental in firing Al. The reality is most members of the media called them morons. The banners allowed us to vent our frustration and let everyone one know we were unhappy but what got Al fired was more and more empty seats at the games An increasingly angry fan base blowing up the business phones of BOT's such as Stewart Miller and Paul DiMare. Then after Al's signature 58-0 loss the pitchfork mob that was preparing to march out in front of the Hecht Center and former players who had organized and were planning on walking into the Hecht Center and demand he be fired were all factors in Al getting fired.

What pitchfork mob? What former players marching into the Hecht? Media calling fans morons? That's the pot calling the kettle black. What a bunch of revisionist hogwash.

As to the inane Butch comment, it's ironic that the Butch haters do not hesitate in besmirching his good name at any opportunity. Then they bytch.

Obviously, too many POTATOES here have yet to realize that Richt is the new HC. STFU already, and get behind him.

If he goes 7-6 we shall see.

Probably the most ridiculous statement with regard to Richt!

Now, does anybody know what next year will bring? No. But, think about this and I don't think many posters, here, will disagree.

Based on his past 15 years of in the SEC, his past experience, record in the SEC and just 3 facts, of many,
below, it's much more likely Richt would have beaten both Cincinnati and fsu this season. That's a 10 win
season with a bowl game to play.

Facts:

1) 75% wins in the SEC
2) Of all the coaches out there with a 15 year record or more, only
3 (2 in HOF and 1 will be) coaches are better. Stoops, Switzer and Osborn.
3) When Richt was totally hands on (how his will coach here) his W/L record
is excellent, including 2 out 3 SEC championships.

Combing the above facts with the fact that our O-Line had less reps than 122 of the 128 schools in
the FBS at the seasons start actually have a seasons worth experience and tape of all their mistakes
for Richt and Kehoe to study and fix.

Yes, we will lose some great players to the draft. But, if you haven't noticed each recruiting class
has be producing more high quality players, not less. This will be a positive.

In conclusion, it's my opinion we have a much better chance of winning 10 games next year then we do
of losing 6 games.

In fact, I believe even with the loss of talent we will have a better record and overall season next year
than this year.
