What did I just read? Comparing Richt to Belichick. Comparing guys who got HC opportunities, most in the NFL to assistants that never went anywhere.
Convienently you left off Nick Saban who was Belichicks DC for the Browns, left there to be HC at MSU.
Again, no one is trashing Richt or saying he was a bad hire. His track record with assistants is average at best and he has some important hires to make. Everyone hopes he knocks it out of the park, some just don't blindly trust him bc of said track record.
You hire a head coach to win football games and Richt knows how to do that very well.
The man has won 74% of his games with average at best assistants (your words) and consistently finished in the top 25 while playing in the most difficult conference in college football.
His career winning percentage should increase as the ACC is not the SEC and he is going back to calling plays.
Some of you act like we have a first time head coach (Coker and Randy) or complete bozo (Golden) leading our team.
I could care less if he hires Mickey Mouse to be the OC and DBC to be the DC as long as we are winning 80+% of our games.
This is not about blind trust; it is about focusing on what matters (winning football games not developing the best coaching staff on paper) and using common sense (Richt knows how to win football games).
**** winning 80% of our games...**** ten win seasons....you play the game to win.....Get us a ring within 4 years or set up your replacement.
