I give Butch most of the credit for building the 2001 roster, but he wasn't on the sideline and doesn't deserve a ring.

To be fair, what he did at the U landed him in Cleveland and to some extent UNC. His star was tarnished by what went down at UNC.

To be fair, what he did at the U landed him in Cleveland and to some extent UNC. His star was tarnished by what went down at UNC.

what happened at carolina and the way he left miami last time made him a non starter. they interviewed him only to appease the masses according to a source of barry jackson. butch had no shot at hc job. and what happened at carolina is a huge tarnish first off fedora has had a better record there, second he was the one hired blake even if he wasn't involved in paying players for agents and the scholastic stuff hurts . and lets not forget he is 64. that isn't a good thing in college today.

It's amazing that you all are judging his staff by the hire of a RB coach and ST coach. If you're going to judge before games are actually played, then at least wait until the entire staff is announced.

**** is comical when you consider that Richt himself will be calling the offense, I.e the really important role.

Richt doesn't have a great coaching tree which is a little bizzare for an accomplished coach and an interesting topic to discuss.

Take a step back, remove Richts sack from your mouths and deal with it. The Mark Richt orgy session is getting annoying before he's even hired a coach. Can we be tentative about anything? Or should we prop this dude up to unattainable heights and then come after him with pitchforks after his first 9 win season?

Who the **** is propping him up to unattainable heights?? No one is claiming he is Saban Part II, are they?? Everyone knows he's never won a title, the same as about 99% of active coaches out there. Christ on a crutch. People are just excited to finally have a proven winner at Miami after 10 years of abject misery. These are just ******* fans of the program that want to give him the benefit of the doubt during this "honeymoon" period.

The only people with balls in mouths are the Bring Back Butch Bit*h Boys that i see everywhere on here, already doing their kunty passive aggressive sniping. People who want to deprive ******* desperate fans of the first gleam of hope in a decade just because they're bitter that their idol is still stuck in the unemployment line.

Funny how Butch gets bashed for not coaching in 5 years with a track record like that and Richt get lauded as the savior for being consistently better than average but never great.

For Richt, the expectation is playoffs or bust especially with the money we are paying him and his staff. That would have been the expectation for Butch here but he would have been given half the budget to work with. No excuses. The only way to silence the BBB people is to win a championship. Deal with it.

No, people only get excited about the program these last 10 years when the old guys is fired and the new guy is hired.

This isn't some unique "proven winner honeymoon." Same old ****. Go win some football games.

Mark dropped in BOT's lap and checked all the boxes without any big negatives from their POV. There were plenty of reason to NOT hire him. The biggest being he just got fired for not winning anything that mattered(at least not in many years), especially the big games. Al got fired for same basic reason. I wanted Butch but Mark is our guy now and we get whatever staff he picks. I think he is good enough to win ACC and beat FSU, if his fire was lite by being fired. Maybe he gets to playoffs.

Any chance to return to our greatness is probably gone for ever at this point unless another Howard come along. Mark is not Howard. Butch had best chance to rebuild us but getting chosen over Mark was not possible. If not Butch, then Mark was a decent choice. If he beat noles this year recruiting should blow up and talent might give him chance to end career in glory. He is our new horse so we ride with him for now.

The point is that people shouldn't deify Mark Richt when he hands out jobs to his former players.

And then shouldn't be ****ed at fans who are concerned with the experience of our coaching staff.

The point is, I'm not going to sit here and applaud every single hire Richt makes bc he has a terrible track record for coaching hires.

A worthy post. Nothing wrong with going against the current celebratory flow of the board. Remember, there was a time when you'd be vilified for questioning Al's coaching....Remember "Al, just gets it!"?
