Richt would win the coastal just about every year. My issues is him in the playoffs or ACC championship games. Can he get over the hump?

GT's record over the last 15 years...

Johnson (8): 61-44 (38-26)
Gailey (6): 44-32 (28-20)
O'Leary (1): 8-5 (4-4)

113-81 (70-50)

Would love to see ACC domination. I'll take worry about the ACC championship when we get there. Wont ever get over the hump if you don't first win games to make it too the ACC championship. Hire the man already and lets the ship rolling and see where the chips land.

People on here will biach no matter who's hired

I think you have a few that would not be happy with Richt, but the majority would be alright with him. I think most of us would give Richt, Mullen, or Butch a chance. If UM hires Schiano, Strong, or Cristobal then you'll see most the fans complain.

Valid. However, Jimmy (here we go again!) couldn't win the big one either until he came to Miami. ****, he even lost the '86 title game with one of the most stacked rosters ever. But he got it rolling pretty good after that! I think, so long as he truly has a passion for it, Richt can win a title here.

I still would prefer Butch, but give me Richt all day, every day, over Schiano.

The point is he is consistently beating acc teams when we are not. People act like richt is golden and that's not the case

Granted golden and dnofrio did do well against gt for whatever that's worth. It's their inability to beat the scrubs that has us here

My only concern with richt is does he want to coach. I'm not worried about the big game talk because he would only have one big game a year in the regular season, maybe two depending on non conference schedule.

Bro. He hasn't won the SEC East in like, 3 years, bro. Bro, he's never won a national title with a bunch of talent like, Butch! (wait, what?)

No doubt Richt would dominate this conference... I think we'd get a couple ACC Championships also. Dont expect to win any playoff games or national championships though. Its possible... but im just not seeing it.

Give me Butch or Richt.. anything else at this point is a disappointment.

Who is acting like he is Golden? Not me. I never said that.

I am saying what he did against the ACC isn't anything special. He plays GT every year and they won 58% of their games during that time. I wouldn't say this is much of an accomplishment.

I quoted you but it wasn't directed necessarily at you, a lot of the board have stated he's like golden.

I just think regardless of whether that is an accomplishment to you.. In my opinion it's a massive upgrade. We have been in the Acc for over a decade and never won it. We have only ever tied for the coastal once. Never been in the Acc championship game.

Richt has shown he can beat these teams no problem consistently (it's not his fault they aren't great, but gt and Uga is a rivalry game so I do think it is impressive). We haven't had anywhere near the same success

Any massive upgrade over Golden, that would include a bag of horsechit. Almost anyone is an upgrade.

I think we know what to expect if we get Richt. I just don't see him exceeding what he did at UGA by much, if at all.

He's won his in-state rivalry game 13 of last 15. That's impressive. (Going 5-10 against Gators not so much)

Fun fact: He's faced 5 different Gator head coaches since arriving at UGA.

If Richt has that fire in him then I have no doubt we will be winning the coastal most years and potentially in the hunt for the CFP most years. I question his ability to win in the playoff, but then again I would question that about all of the other candidates as well. I do think that Butch would put together a more talented team by years 3 and 4, and that those teams could be so much more talented than their competitors that we would roll in the CFP.

I don't think it is much of a rivalry at 13-2. Beating a team that won 58% of their games during those 15 years isn't impressive either.

Good point. If you want a representative example, check the bowl game against Louisville last season. The Canes had been wilted by Louisville's attacking defense twice in the preceding 12 months. Georgia's quarterback gets hurt early in the game. The commentators say the team is in trouble. Meanwhile, Mark Richt defaults to gorgeous basic football. Louisville seemed to think it was unfair. After all, they own the #2 rushing defense in the country. They want a panic procession of finesse bubble screens. Instead, Richt unleashed Chubb on one power running play after another. Game turned into a physical rout. I forget the specifics but I know Chubb had over 200 yards.

It's been so long since the Canes did anything like that. Heck, same with the Dolphins. There's every local excuse to abuse any type of offense as long as you avoid high volume rushing attempts. I'm beyond sick of it. Nobody stopped the I formation and play action out of it. Young coordinators from the video game generation decided it's not cute enough.
