Mark Pope Arrested for …

Was it at a gas station?
Not sure what literary term applies here

Former Miami Hurricanes star Mark Pope was arrested on armed robbery and other charges after he was accused of pistol-whipping a woman, records showed.

The 27-year-old was booked into Miami-Dade's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Thursday and also faces an aggravated battery charge, records show.

According to an arrest report, Pope and the victim knew each other through their neighborhood and had agreed to meet at a park on Southwest 218th Street.

While there, they got into a dispute in the victim's vehicle before Pope pulled out a gun and hit her in the face with it then forcibly took her phone from her hand, the report said.

The victim fled from the car and went to a nearby gas station where she called police.

Pope was found a short time later and taken into custody before he was booked into jail.

Man, our WR core was bleak af in 2020.

Kinda interesting that he signed w Toronto’s CFL team at the end of 2024. Didn’t play, yet still interesting as i presume that means a dude like Jacolby George just isn’t pursuing those same opportunities given the production difference.

Agreed, but "Armed Robbery" was not on my bingo card. Drunk and stupid was though.
True, but initially without more facts this reads much closer to domestic abuse than armed robbery....

he knew this woman....they agreed to meet at a park....got into a disagreement....he pistol whipped her and took her phone....

So yes, that is technically armed robbery but do we really think he wanted the phone? or they were fighting over something else and the phone was key to whatever they were fighting about.

To me that is like someone going down for a charge like felony murder when they had a fake gun but the security guard had a heart attack as he was robbing the place and the guy died. Like yes, technically it is murder but hard for me to classify the robber as a certified killer.
