Depends on the number especially in relation to what you are currently paying guys who have proven themselves here.

This scenario and discussion has happened here already plenty of times, but just for the exercise; if Matthews won't take anything less than $4 million (no clue what the number is but for this exercise) but Cantwell (heading into his first year is already projected to start) is getting $2 million. Well, guess who will be making just north of $4 million before Matthews ever steps foot on campus? What about the rest of that room?

It's not about saving money to use on a different recruit; it's about securing a commitment for a guy at the right price. Decisions here are far more wide reaching than an individual high schooler
