Everything is not a “miss”. There are plenty of da tors involved in these recruitments. It’s not black and white no matter how you want to make it that way
 
Not getting Matthews and Davinson were/are huge misses, there's no denying that.

Is the world ending? No. We'll be fine. But they're still very big misses

That isn’t how college football works anymore, every offseason you have to work to retain those players you recruited. It’s a year to year rental process while simultaneously bringing in Damon Wilson and Carter who were a 5-star and 4-star we “took an L” on 3 and 2 recruiting cycles ago.

If you’re doing it right you retain and develop for multiple years so they go to the league and the money frees up along with the established line of development to sell the future.

Talk to me in January if we’ve really fallen off a cliff with talent.

lol I doubt they are broke and I’m sure they are offering good money but it seems they aren’t willing to go to certain levels

How do you think we poached some of these players from HS and especially portal?
Could it be.....bear with me....that other schools also have deep pockets? Who knew a school with alums in the oil and energy industry were just as stupid rich as the other schools in spending a ton of money on football so they can impress their buddies who are alums of other Texas schools with ties to oil and energy as well.
We have loyal alums and boosters spending a bunch of money on the program, but we are not the only school, and we just gave a pathway, proof-of-concept, on how to get real good in a minute: building from the interior first.
When a program wins, they will get emulated.

This is exactly it. It's the S. Florida kids. All of that "I gotta see Miami win" or "show me more" & they still don't come. They just don't wanna be here. Then we'll see them throwing shade like that other S. Florida kid in the Midwest after we beat them.
