2027 Mark Matthews 5* OL from STA Commits to TAMU

I understand that....just don't **** on my leg and tell me it's raining
Somehow you were included in my response to the bozo who had replied to you. (<-- that would be @JZCane0825, but there are other bozos as well) I replied from the app which has a few quirky bugs in it, like multi-quoting when you reply. I mention this because my (mild) vitriol is not aimed at you. I actually think you and I see this pretty similarly.

It's fair to question and (fairly) criticize the staff. It's not fair to say things like " we overrate this staff’s ability to close high profile HS recruitments. Name the last one they’ve won?" We literally landed the #1 recruit in the nation last year. This year isn't done yet. People use hyperbole WAY too much on this board (and in life in general) and it has a tendency to distort reality.

Ya… If Matthews is this blind you move on and full court Olu and then JSE…JSE may be a bit more of a project, but he is basically wanted by the whole SEC.

He has been an absolute monster at this.

The man doesn't get phased by these losses…. He and the staff simply evaluate and then we end up with bargain Portal (or even HS) players like Jakobe Thomas and Keionte Scott (who were in nobody's top 5 or 10 at their portal position, if Scott was it was towards the bottom of those top 10s) and they end up two of the top DBs in the nation, out there knocking OSU and ND's heads off, and getting drafted on day 2.

Bottom line: as long as MC and staff keep grinding and winning and, equally important, we offer strong NIL packages, we should do fine.
People forget other schools have capability to throw a bunch of money at recruits just like we do.

No worries, didn't bother me in the least...

Trenches are different. Oline we obviously signed Cantwell in the last class, but Scott was our last 5 star on the dline. Need to win more of the battles for top end dline players. We all saw how important the dline was to our run this year and with Wilson, Moten and possibly Scott leaving after this season we need to add elite talent there.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the guy doesn't want to come because he sees the guys already here and is not confident that he will play immediately...............In any event, if he goes somewhere else, I am glad it it not a school in our state or conference.

Now this I can agree with…Between posters and "insiders" on every site, not just here, not just 247 etc… The way these guys talk early in the recruiting cycles is ridiculous and then we have these collective meltdowns. .

But in a counterpoint…Is a "next step" even needed? We were loaded last year (Top 4-5 roster)…And most agree we are loaded this year (top 6-7 minimum and that's being conservative)

I'm not sure anyone is doing it better combining portal and HS like UM is.
I don't even think it is an actual "recruiting" issue. To me it is more just disingenuous for the sake of views... cause you can always fall back on recruiting is fluid, we were out bid, and all the greatest hits

Big Ben is that guy too. We have a ton of promising guys and Jedi-Master Teacher Mirabal.

Jatori, Tatum and Ford are excellent for us because we’ve been wanting and needing to strengthen our IOL. Hopefully Tatum masters how to snap.

I don’t think double Olu or JSE (or Matthews for that matter) will be ready to start week 1 for us at RT.

So, the civil war is “on” internally. I have my thoughts about the overreactors but nothing that hasn’t already been expressed. I’ll just say I disagree and these kids choosing elsewhere is ZERO reflection on current staff- it’s called free will. I’ll leave that there….
But let’s get some perspective— Recall when Shermar Stewart going to A&M for a huge payday jilting us— we played them here at Hardrock the kid was a non factor—- we pantsed him!
He never delivered on the hype. Sure he got drafted- on ability and metrics- not performance like Bain!
No 2-3 four or five stars will make us or break us— move on, get 3* develop them, get portal kid here or there, plug him in & coach him up.
I refuse to live or die on the inane musings or decisions of 19 yr old kids…

Ya I think J. Williams are both excellent guard prospects who MAY even have a chance to be RTs

Obviously Olu or JSE you are recruiting as tackle prospects with JSE being a little more raw

* 17 year old kids.
Big daddy- for every baby Jezuz that’s 27 on the way in the vast majority are 18+ by the time they set foot on campus— you’re kinda splitting hairs there Omaha think? Regardless, you get the point-
Not sure why you felt so compelled to make that distinction— makes no difference really….

I was going to reply to that and realized it wasn’t worth my time however i can’t resist.

Anyone ever remember that kid from heritage who was committed, reclassified, visited Alabama, then decommitted? Whatever happened to him. . . Alabama felt the need to recruit an undersized WR when Lotzeir Brooks was already committed to them. Somehow that’s not high-profile lol.

Fletcher. Lyle. Moore second guessed his flip and thought about flipping back to UF for a moment. Scott. Lowe. Carr. Blount. Lightfoot. Lane Kiffin had quotes about Chance Robinson that anyone can google….they illustrate how badly he wanted him. Bain & SiSi & Samson. Flipped Ray Ray from Clemson. Beat out Clemson and Bama for Damari Brown. Flipped Brody Jennings & Collins A from Michigan. Wyman flipped from UGA like Spafford. Popo didn’t even OV here before his decision. Evans, Lafayatte, Stancil — all flips. Seatbelt flipped.

I think I’m done here.

The guys making decisions RIGHT NOW are juniors in high school. The vast majority are 16 and 17 years old. I chose the older of the two ages in order to not come off as disingenuous.

I'm a little salty after reading some of these insultingly stupid takes. Apologies for you getting caught in the cross-fire. They're just paintballs....wash if off. The welt will disappear once the bruising fades.
