2027 Mark Matthews 5* OL from STA Commits to TAMU

Missing on a player is yesterday’s news. Right now, it’s about resources, budget for player acquisitions & how you want to spend the money. Players are more often than not taking the highest offer. If you have a deep RB room do you want to allocate x for a player & have less in the pool to fill out the rest of your class? If it’s an elite OT you are likely to get in a bidding war. Point is, no one has an unlimited budget & the better programs - this includes Miami - still require good business sense piecing together a roster. And you don’t miss on a player, just get out spent.

This is probably true, we will find out. I know we will pay and I believe the rumors about us offering top tier money for Jeremiah and Ty. People just dont say **** to say ****, and I am glad they did. It looks good for us for recruits, maybe not the media BS cause they cry all the time. But for recruits it makes us like the Yankees or Dodgers.....willing to pay whatever.
we will pay. we pay as good as anyone but Mario won't spend crazy on a RB because I think he feels our OL opens holes for alot of rb's. I think there are other factors too. Some guys just want early PT without competing for a job. It's well known that Cooper was promised the top RB spot from UT. Some kids care about PT more than anything. Problem for Johnson is he will be going to a spread offense with a running QB and no OL plus he will still spilt carries.

Also every interview the dude seemed smart that it would be easy to eat with the OL recruiting. He said all the right things that he wanted, never believe these kids cause Auburn did change his mind. I think he wanted to come here but had to go to Auburn.

They get advances and such also in NIL era. There are less flips than before.

Yep. Jared Curtis is probably be the well known flip last year. Other than him, I can't think of a recent 5 star flip.

edit: I believe Keys was a flip as well.

is there an actual commitment date set for Matthews? I’ve heard talk of this week but I saw the On3 video and they’re saying he’s planning on taking his OVs and then committing?

If there were any position that I’m confident in for us, it’s OL. UM will be built and sustained from the trenches outward - MM is a must get and MJC was more of a delicacy because we can STILL get a stud RB that will take less than his max offer due to the recruiting pitch Mario/UM offers.

Gaby: Still, my confidence level that Miami gets this done is dropping. There is no formal date to circle at the moment, but the expectation is that something happens sooner rather than later.

Right now, buzz is building around Texas A&M.

I posted here a few weeks ago that talking to someone down at his school, I didn't think this was the slam dunk that DMoney and others were portraying it to be.
The money and position on the line are an issue, and I doubt we get him at this point. Better to focus on some others that are also great and be happy that our line will always be good with Mario and Mirabal.
