Mark Helfrich

Helfrich is the college equivalent of Joe Philbin, riding the coat tales of someone more succcessful, trying to recreate it on his own and then falling flat

Don't ever compare someone of Helfrich's ilk to The Nothing Man. Joe Philbin was an offensive line coach who never called plays when he was the GB OC. Duke literally was a secretary to Mike Mcarthy while he coordinated an offense for the best QB ever. Some people hire others just because they were around greatness and expect it to just rub off.

37-16 career record as head coach with an appearance in the national championship game and you wouldn't take the guy as a 10th coach?

Richt needs an experienced offensive coach to help take the pressure off.

Richt Jr., Brown and Hartley have like 5 years combined experience as position coaches. Richt is spending more time teaching them how to coach than developing the gameplan.

Also, he is breaking in a brand new QB which is an additional load of work.

A guy like Helfrich or Lilly is a must as the 10th coach.

It is a bonus if the guy is a "great recruiter".

Excellent take that I am in complete agreement with. No one is talking about bringing in Helfrich to be the HC or even the OC for that matter. He would be a valuable addition to the offensive staff for exactly the reasons given above. If Richt can marry pro style run concepts with some of the passing concepts Helfrich ran at Oregon and run it out of an RPO format with a dual threat at QB I believe we could construct an offensive juggernaut that makes the most of the elite skill position talent we are surrounded with.

We have an amazing opportunity to create an explosive, multi-faceted offense that is uniquely Miami's. An offense that is exciting to watch and that players want to play in without being gimmicky.

The offense was downright unorganized and sloppy during the four game losing streak.

Richt is extremely rusty as an offensive playcaller and Brown is too green to implement and install the offense by himself.

He cannot handle the head coaching duties, implement the offense and call plays while breaking in a brand new QB.

Just won't be pretty.

He desperatley needs John Lilly or a guy like Helfrich.

Richt will still call plays but he needs an experienced set of eyes to help.

37-16 in the PAC is awful. He inherited a top10 team and swiftly ran it into the ground.

Again nobody is talking about bringing him in as a HC so those stats are irrelevant. We are talking about the possible upside of bringing in Helfrich as the 10th coach an offensive assistant for which he is more than qualified. Reading comprehension!!!!!!
