Mark Fletcher SR HL

In what world is this guy not fast? He's playing the best schedule in the nation vs multiple d1 kids & blowing by them like they're standing still.
Football players got to be fast but still got to play football which Fletcher is great at. Mark Pope was a 10.54 guy but could not really play football at the college level. No one is saying Fletcher is not fast. There is fast, real fast and blazing fast. How many players on the field are running a sub 11.00 100 meters? There is not a lot players that run that fast. There was only around a handful last year on this team. Some teams are stacking them with receivers and defensive backs. That is why a 10.7 player with a good cut will get past 11.2 defenders all day long. Then put a 10.3 or 10.5 guy out there, he is a home run threat every time he touches the ball. We need more with all the speed in Florida that usually has the fastest sprint track guys in the country.

What exactly happened to Citizen? ACL recovery are not very long anymore. Most are back running within 10 months.

Unless he’s the second coming of Frank Gore I wouldn’t expect much from Citizen going forward. Especially if he’s out another full year.

You can lump Chaney in that category as well. Year 3 for Chaney. Zero production. All Fletcher has to do is stay healthy and he’ll get 50% of the carry’s this year
Yeah Chaney just doesn't look like he's going to do anything. He was terrible in the spring game last night.

This kid plays with power and meanness. He's shiftier than many of these LB's expect too. I love him as a prospect.

He tore more than the ACL. Meniscus plus possibly another ligament too.

Actually a few people said he isn't fast.

he had a locked full leg brace so he cannot bend his leg. suggest recent surgery i guess.
This citizen injury is a **** head scratcher as is the Zion injury.
Does the nfl approve certain treatments that cfb doesnt?
We’re talking over 12 months out from injury and surgery and dude is in a knee immobilizer?
I’d be in Germany getting stem cell treatments.

Past perforamnce has shown that we cannot rely on just Chaney for the season (or Parrish for that matter). I’m not dumping on the kid but he has shown a propensity for injury. Heck…even during the spring there was one run where he got up gingerly. He is likely to get hurt again. The question is when and how serious.

With that said, when healthy, he is our best back. He has speed + power and to my eyes is our best back.

We just need a third back to compliment the Parrish/Chaney combo. We cannot rely on Walden or another walk-on. The OL should be greatly improved. We need to take advantage and rotate backs.

Question on Citizen…when we say there has been a “setback” are we talking about re-injuring the knee? Did he incur an infection? Is he experiencing unusual soreness? Is his knee simply not responding or improving given where he is in his rehab timeline?

Setbacks are not uncommon but the type of setback could tell us more about his chances for returning (if he ever returns). Stephen McGuire and McGahee were never quite the same after their knee injuries. Gore is a Hall of Famer after 2 knee injuries but he lost some fluidity. He reinvented himself and leveraged his vision to achieve greatness.

bruh just my .02 but occasionally your opinion should be withheld for the benefit of the team/player. Like your opinion is going to garner a **** ton more attention than anyone else saying "Fletcher has a chance to start"

Like does he have a chance? Sure, why not. But with Parrish, Don and Citizen (all health permitting) returning, he has an uphill battle then if he isnt starting but also not getting a lot of burn, fans will come down hard on him because people in the offseason or greentree hyped him up. Now fans are crushing a kids confidence and making him mad all over ish he had no true control over. Setting the bar unrealistically high.

Call it what it is. He is a very good back that came on strong his senior year and did his thing against some of the best defenders in the nation and he should rush for a ton of TDs for us over the next 3-4 years. Trying to put a "starter" label on him year 1 before he has set foot on greentree is unnecessary. Now I know a rebuttal is you said "he has a chance" but that is not what the masses are going to read and run with.
Good stuff man 👍🏾

I'm a RB snob when it comes to tape. Fletcher's tape is fine. No better or worse than Chaney's. He could be a really good player for us. He could be better than Mark Walton. He could develop into a better player than his tape. His Sr film tells me his ceiling is 3rd/4th rd draft pick. Which is amazing for him and if he reaches that level he will have been great for us but its not program changing production.

Our hey day guys were NFL HOfers and more recently guys like Duke or Dalvin Cook had astonishing tape and literally netted wins for their respective teams that would have otherwise been Ls. That is not what I see on Fletchers HL but he deserves to be on this roster and compete for playing time.

this kid is gigantic. Still sticking with my kerryon Johnson comparison but this kids tape is a lot of yards after contact against a bunch of big time programs. He’s going to eat up yards after contact like an Eddie George back in the day.

You can see the speed on the outside zone runs. Gets the edge and hits the alley with a burst.

Would assume it’s a meniscus/cartilage issue. “ACL tear” is what most people think is the devastating issue, but the ACL can be reconstructed in a variety of ways and isn’t a ‘huge’ deal in and of itself unless the surgery was just completely botched. It’s what that can come with that devastates knees. If it’s accompanied by a large degree of meniscus loss you are talking about potentially irreversible damage. There are new techniques that can help, but the meniscus is such a rare cartilage in its function and capability that it can’t be reconstructed like an ACL can. If it’s shredded enough, it can be career ending as you lose stability and shock absorption

....Duke was a 3rd rounder though lol.

Been waiting for this to drop. Note that he is going against some of the top teams in the nation.

Fletcher has a chance to start by the end of this season, health permitting.

When I first saw Fletcher play my eyes were watch Alonzo Highsmith.

Enough said
