I understood going for the FG; however, I had little faith we would make it. Tough decision either way. Our offense was horrendous in the first half. Can’t put yourself in that position.
But we didnt decide " hey, lets let IU block a punt", It was play that happened. And once again, retracting "absurd". I amend it to wrong. I wont even say conservative. I like conservative. I though this decision was at the time was almost defeatist.
so, I assume you NEVER critique ANY call ever by our staff. Because since other option may also have falied ( since we call it) fans would be whining, so every call is always right. Genius thinking. That part
Nah it’s just I find it amusing how often fans with little to no game management experience try to critique calls. Everyone manages the clock on madden so it’s gotta be a layup. Not that it matters. Yall will critique everything anywayUnder this logic then NO call can ever be questioned when it fails because, well, people would have criticized the other option too. Nothing then is subject to criticism.
Weird we went for it deep in our own territory but not in plus position with a kicker who been shaky in playoffs.. Was solid prior but he got in his head after AM. 50 yard fg are tough to begin with, having a shaky kicker try that was not best move.I personally think if you go for it in your own territory on 4th then you’re all in. I wanted us to go for it.
But I’m not gonna act like it was some horrible decision either
fine not absurd. Still the wrong decision.Absurd? Of course you go for the field goal. At the very least, its not an absurd choice.

This.it was conservative, but we werent really getting push on the line up front and our passing game was nonexistent.
our kicker was *** to end of the year. idk how you trust the **** to kick a 50 yarderI understood going for the FG; however, I had little faith we would make it. Tough decision either way. Our offense was horrendous in the first half. Can’t put yourself in that position.
Yeah, I understand why we tried it. Going for it on 4th and 2 doesn't guarantee we get 7. I'm not sure what I would have done. I probably would have gone for it, I hate 50 yard FGs as a general rule unless I need one to win a game.I disagree. Absurd is a stretch, and it obviously wasn’t fatal since we made much more critical errors (punt block most notably) and we still had the ball going in to win the game.
I can definitely see the argument for going for it, no problem there. But I see an argument for kicking, too. We just put up an absolute stinker of a half against a team expected to kick our teeth in. We had zero momentum. If we make it 10-3 right there, it’s a huge win going into half. I’d have taken 10-3 all day. Would’ve been great energy in the locker room to play that ****** on offense against that team on that stage and it’s a one-score game.
And 2 yards felt like 15 the way we were playing.
Hindsight helps, but I don’t hate the call. We had much bigger problems.
