Mario & urgency

Ya'll wanted Mario. For better or worse, this is who he is. CEO, TA extraordinaire, who's in-game decisions leave a lot to be desired. Turning on him 3 games into his tenure when he's barely had the opportunity to reshape the roster is why this is unequivocally the worst fanbase in sports.

I don’t have an overall issue with the gameplan. Tough road environment against a stingy defense. Generally speaking you want to be able to run the ball in this setup. Yes TVD and WRs did not have good games and there was questionable situational playcallig. Overall, though, Mario’s game and clock management left a lot to be desired. Oregon fans warned us all off season about it.
we said prior to the game, we weren't gonna win the game app states way. we did try to pass and passed a lot though some of it was bc we were down 17-3. we started the game trying to set up the pass which I did like. the issue is our scheme in the passing game moreso than the number of times we passed. gattis failed in his first real game as an OC here. app state did what they wanted to do on ATM and only hit 17 points. we manhandled atm in the trenches and scored 9. w the way were running the offense from a passing standpoint and a pace standpoint, we aren't gonna win games doing it this way.

Josh Gattis better draw up 5 new plays or I’m gonna be ****ed.

7 drops seems excessive. 3 maybe 4? Still too many and 2 of them were major drops for 1st down/maybe even a TD.

We counting the ones with receivers blanketed and with Parrish blanketed on that last drive?
Van Dyke could have waited for Parrish to run past the linebacker on that play, instead of robotically trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole for the 50th time that evening.

Honestly, Oregon fans warned us and I could not have imagined it would be this bad. The punt late in the 4th quarter where he just let 30 secs roll off the clock and then incur a penalty was coup de grace after squandering the clock on the prior 2 drives.

We should have punted on 2nd and 30 and I'm not being funny. This offense had zero chance of converting that. We destroyed the clock there for nothing. But waiting so long to snap the ball on those downs was unforgivably bad management. Zero self awareness.

This. He threw it 900 mph 10 feet away. He has zero touch or feel for the game. He is very robotic like you said.

What?

This fanbase would have lost their minds if Mario did something like that. You at least take a couple of shots, and see if you can get a PI, or break it. You don't just bail on the drive in that situation.

Punting would've been dumb, but burning clock was also dumb on our part.

Despite the gameplan and slow placed offense, Mario absolutely has a sense of urgency about program perception recruiting and winning. It shows in the amount of transfers he brought in. Didn’t get that signature win but he definitely knows how valuable a conf. Title is this year! Saturday, yes gameplan was beyond conservative but TVD didn’t give us a chance being so inaccurate. Mario needs to create more urgency for conf. Play.
That game showed how good we can be with some slight changes. Need more uptempo in the offense to help out TVD and then WRs need to catch the ball. More aggressiveness as from Mario and Gattis and I think we are there I mean we probably win that game if X wasn’t hurt

Decisions, decisions. Even though the clock management was weird in spots, at the end of the day we didn’t run out of time, we ran out of downs because we didn’t execute.

Maybe don’t punt the ball with 5 seconds on the play lock late in the game. Some urgency there would’ve been nice. But hey what do I know. We were down 8. Get to the line and punt the ball. Waste so much time

Maybe mario needs to hire someone to do win probabilities with different situations in the game, because him deciding to kick a FG after a 6min 70+ yard drive on the 4 yard line on 4th and goal down 17-3 was probably right there with Stevenson going braindead on the PR for worst moments in the game for me.
