Mario - PT Marketing Genius

Like you said, pretty good in today's football, but plenty of doubt to hold down the fort in OT. Kudos to them though, they got it done today.
That’s the thing though. If you have to rely on your defense to hold the other team to less than 20 points, the problem isn’t your defense.

I am not saying they are perfect or there’s nothing to nitpick on the defense but they did everything and more of what is asked in today.

It’s unrealistic to expect our defense to hold every team to under 100 yards rushing and/or less than 200 yards passing in order to win. However, our defense is close to doing that anyway. They’ve played maybe 2-3 bad quarters of football. By just about every metric our defense has been outstanding.

Sorry, but I don't think you're getting my point. I am NOT denigrating ANYTHING about how the defense played today or this season for that matter. As you said, they played better than most in today's era of football.

I'm SOLELY talking about the decision to go to OT. It was FAR from a slam dunk that they hold UVA to a FG.

All 16 fans at the game were thrilled , here where I live my blood pressure was through the roof…..for the second week in a row
I'm telling you, Mario gets a piece of the concessions or something. I know I bought an extra soda and popcorn for OT.

I get you. I agree. I just need to vent lol

2 weeks in a row elects to go for OT giving us fans the benefit of free football!!!

I still say it's wrong, but hey, he's 2-0 doing it so what the **** do I know?
& Let's see how honest you are with yourself. If he goes for it and Tyler throws another int after what should've been a game clinching one the drive before, well what do you say then? Do you blame Tyler for this or Mario for cost[BGCOLOR=initial]ing us the game?[/BGCOLOR]

I thought he made a mistake both times but he won both. I still think I’m right - but glad it worked out.
What's he supposed to do, start drives deep in our own end in the final minute in a dink and dunk offense with marginal quarterback play? I think he's made the smart play in both instances.

If when we're in a tight situation - we do NOT throw - then will someone 'splain to me WHY Emory can't do the same thing?

We have a few more games - against some good opponents - and this cardiac stress methodology of OT's - I'm not enjoying it very much.

Emory right now looks like our guy next year. Turn the kid loose!

He certainly can't do any worse. And I think our players will bust a gut to help him out. Oh. And I say him throw better during his game - than I've seen from TVD this year.

The moment after the first quarter wasn't too big for Emory - but the first quarter was too big tonight for TVD.

The key is to trot him out, and free him up - more crossing routes and short-medium stuff. Still run the ball, but dayum, this is NOT getting us where we want to go.

I don't minid a loss by a youngster who's busting his *** to win - but I DO mind a loss by someone who's zoned out somewhere else.
