I don't buy that Lightfoot gained 12 lbs in 3 months and "might" gain another 12. And if he really gained that much weight that quickly, it probably wouldn't be good.

While I acknowledge the legitimate concern under past regimes, I can't imagine JT allowing the S&C team to trade speed and agility for bulk, no way that happens.

I also think Lightfoot isn't the same situation as, say, a Zion Nelson gaining 60 pound in 2 years to play as a true freshman. Lightfoot is going into his third year in college now with a frame that can stack 25 on and not lose a step. And they'll be monitoring his range of motion every pound he gains.

Francis was a freak athlete. 3 standard deviations from the normal high school footballer. And yes, he had some missed assignments as a true freshman. But overall he was amazing in 2023.

Cantwell is literally the freakiest of all freak athletes. He is at the top of the world in freakiness. The kid will win the Olympics and break world records. He threw the second longest shot put in high school history as a junior at 76' 11.25". He would crush that record this track season if he weren't already on campus at Miami. He threw the discuss 210' 5". So his feet are just as quick and his lower body as explosive as his upper body.

Cantwell is such a rare specimen that under Mirabal and Mario, I have zero concerns he will become a top linemen as a true freshman. I saw his camp tape, he struggled in pass pro last summer. It was all technique. Word is that's no longer a problem. We're going to have an AA and future All Pro level LT for the next 3 years boys.
