Mario on JOe Rose Show this morning

Jaws biggest puss ever, couldn't believe fans cant cheer and be loud, thats what home field advantage is all about
I think he had to pull away from center 5 times and then they threatened to throw a penalty if the crowd would no be quiet… surreal and unprecedented. Those games are the lore of the OB that confirm what that place was to the visitors.

I was at the game and we put up 580 yards with a basic vanilla scheme. It was like working on fundamentals. I think the offense is further along than I felt after the camp reports. The blocking especially. I'm so mad I don't get to see Citizen anytime soon.
by all accounts, the D was way ahead of the O during Fall camp. at the game, however, it was quite the opposite. the O did whatever it wanted to with ease. and it played restrained. the D struggled with containment and tackling.

Was just gonna say the same thing, I rarely, if ever, see something that (relatively) trivial called in a "big" game between evenly-matched opponents. But against Bethune, you're likely to see the refs sympathize with B-CC and make that call to teach UM a mild lesson.
Are you referring to a player spiking the football? It’s a penalty. You rarely see it in CFB because everyone knows its a penalty. Or are you referring to trivial penalties in general?

IIRC, Ed Reed spiked the ball in the endzone after scoring the clinching TD against BC in 2001. 15-yard penalty but no one gave a fvck. And rightly so.

We haven’t been really tested in the trenches yet, but I sure like what I saw out there. I’m trusting Mario’s plan. Yes, there is always room for improvement and as the season goes on I think this time around we will see that.

Cliff notes:
- Offensive Line graded out really well. Both first and second units. As they should have - per Mario.
- WR's were improving in the practices before the BC game. They are coming on.
- Parish and Thad have great eyes. Made it hard for the defense to bring them down. Contact plus two yards, etc.
- Taking more pride on special teams. K Smiff should have prolly scored on a couple if blocks were held longer. X is a weapon blocking and returning.
- Tackling needs to be improved.
- Kinchens awesome young man, really good football player.
- Mesidor best player on defense on saturday. defensive line chess piece, can do it all.
- Knighton & Zion are expected back. Looked good towards end of last week practice but held them out precautionary.
- TVD complete team player. outstanding teammate. excellent on saturday.
- Everything on defense needs to be elevated this week. Same with offensive blocking and playing faster etc.
- Admin/School is fully bought in with football at the highest, prolific individuals levels.

Defense needs to clean up big time, would have been exposed if they played like that against good competition. Not enough sacks, contain, or good coverage. Given all the camp reports it was a surprise to see the O playing better than them. Hopefully the first two games will shake out the jitters, some essential adjustments are made etc
My hope here is it was a first game kinda thing

It seemed like they cleaned it up as the game went along, at least up front. Maybe over confidence, maybe they underestimated the athletes BC had…missed some odd basic stuff. Mario intimated as much I think

Kinda got caught slipping it seemed but came around

I dunno…hope so anyway

The key here if you get the penalty against BC will you get that penalty against A&M? One you can away and one you cant. We would go crazy if that cost a game against another team. Its a rule and you have to play within the rules. Corch em up.
Yep, no matter how ******* ridiculous it is...gotta do it

I like that OL got a chance to bond under light arms fire. Not knowing what the defense has planned and tackling is different than in practice. They should be better next week against better competition and ready to face tamu by 3rd game.

Excuse my ignorance. But what was it issue? The crowd making noise?

CMR also let Miami off the hook from that new contract by retiring. People don’t understand how much deep **** we would have been if it wasn’t for that man caring about the program and not taking that money. For that, I’ll always be thankful.

Then we hired Diaz ….smh.
Pretty sure they did reach an impasse. Richt said he wouldn't fire his son and relinquish OC duties and James said he wouldn't fire him but he WOULD hire an OC and fire his son. Was going to be messy ... Richt resigned rather than get into that mess. He didn't need the money ... but by all accounts UM wasn't going to fire him so there would have been no buyout to pay. He was and is a tremendous person. He was burned out and most likely feeling the impact of the disease that was diagnosed later on. Nasty to deal with. With medication the symptoms can be controlled at least for a while. Hope he is able to control it with meds and goes on to live a long life.
