Mario on Joe Rose: Hear a fake tough guy tell you to work hard

Mario will not finish out this contract. Don’t believe a word from these insiders pushing the narrative thatif Mario goes, the money goes a toxic fan base will always have the final say.

I don’t think he finishes the contract either, but you’re dead wrong about the $ not drying up.

I’ll be here a few years from now watching people cry about the lack of resources the new coach has while Miami catches deep and soothing penetration on the recruiting and transfer portal rail trail.

This is the last shot for this school in this new environment. Miami and USC are ****ering on permanent irrelevance.

Mario is alot of things but a fake tough guy he is not. I dont get it though. throughout his career he beats top teams and then loses these games.

Where did this bull**** come from? Mario is 11-18 against ranked opponents in his career.

i'm not an insider, but that narrative makes sense ... where was all this money before mc

What are you doing bro…why are you bringing logic into this?

Don’t you understand that the broke fans of this school ****taste the action?

I wish the CC guys would publish how much of the total kitty comes from small monthly donation (i.e., < 100 per user).

So the Cuban mafia doesn’t care about Miami, they only care about Mario. They bet hundreds of millions of dollars on their friend who is an average at best coach, and when it fails they’re just out? For rich people they sound awfully stupid.

Respectfully, we’re just indifferent. We get a coach in here who can do more or less and the front running culture of that city he will take over, when it’s on and popping everybody wants to be part of it, I just need the right coach who can do more with less.

I’m not getting less ****ed as the days go by.

Things that drove me nuts on his interview and I didn’t even finish listening to it yet

First, he was asked about penalties right away, especially in the offensive line and he went on about how they cleaned it up for Stanford, which is all relative but that they regressed this week and that it’s not the standard

The problem is penalties under Mario is absolutely the standard the statistics show it

Then later on when it was readdressed about how you coach it out or make people lose playing time or whatever you do to bring it back in he talked about how he leads a discipline life and they are a discipline team, and I’m sorry Mario - I get what your point is and what you believe but the facts are your team is not disciplined or we wouldn’t be having this ******* conversation again
Things an ***-hole says for $2000, Alex.

Mario works as hard as any coach in America and is relentless. He’s just not too smart . That’s why his hires are important but even with that it takes 4-5 times to get it right . Which leads you back to the not too smart comment
Hiring while not actually knowing what to look for was always the recipe for failure. When offseason after offseason he garnered praise for making changes I asked one question. What did he change about the process of hiring? Anybody can hire and fire over and over again. When you are looking to celebrate mediocrity the finer details can be elusive.

I agree with you. Mario works hard but he doesn’t work smart.

Interesting point.

Rudy Fernandez (then UM's Chief of Staff and very close Joe E ally) was on OBB's podcast day after-ish Mario got the nod and Joe E (and Rudy) were acknowledged key figures in making it happen...

He specifically mentioned to Toast, "...we have calculated a Top 10 Miami is equivalent to $100MM in brand advertising..."

IF this holds true, and they remain in decision making roles, at some point, Mario's buyout costs vs lost value to UM on the X, Y chart will pass a critical inflection point of no return.

I suspect that's when a change is made.
There is zero chance that they will keep him or any other coach if they know that he is costing them $$- the school has plenty of dough. Repeatedly losing games you're supposed to win, and the way we are losing them is totally unacceptable. We will see soon if he keeps doing this. I pray they (he) gets something figured out on the o side, but history tells me not to expect anything. Unreal

Joe Rose should ask him why he preaches toughness and then bends at the knee any time adversity rears its ugly head.

Taking a knee with 25 seconds left, a TO in your pocket, and 40 yards.

No, they don’t care about Miami enough to keep sinking the kind of cash they’re pumping into Miami.

Amazing logic.

They can want to be a part of it, but how tangible is that financially.

We’re going in circles here in every thread.

I said what I said.

When Miami is 6-7 to 7-6 year in and year out; people around here will be crying for the 9-3/10-2 days of poor coaching.

****; people are still lionizing Botch in 2025.

You have no idea what Butch did with what he was given...

Probably not very likely but it would be great if Dana White and Jeff Bezos filled the voids of donors who throw money away for their boy.

And that’s a risky move to make with conference realignment coming up. One more slide back before conference realignment and it’s really over for Miami football when those invites don’t come.

The worst part of that interview is he said they didn’t go for the win at the end of regulation bc they “didn’t pop a big return.”

Yea bc Marion didn’t even return the ******* kick. So did the AA kick returner make that decision himself, or did someone tell him not to return it? Why didn’t they say no matter what take it out and try to break one? Why was this not followed up on? Does Mario not even care to explain or does he just not know? Incompetent and embarrassing.
