I think you'll find that most of those big wins are early in the season. Once the team establishes its tendencies, other teams adjust accordingly and rather than re-adjust, Mario tends to do the same things all season long./

Rudy Fernandez (then UM's Chief of Staff and very close Joe E ally) was on OBB's podcast day after-ish Mario got the nod and Joe E (and Rudy) were acknowledged key figures in making it happen...

He specifically mentioned to Toast, "...we have calculated a Top 10 Miami is equivalent to $100MM in brand advertising..."

IF this holds true, and they remain in decision making roles, at some point, Mario's buyout costs vs lost value to UM on the X, Y chart will pass a critical inflection point of no return.

I suspect that's when a change is made.

honestly if we make a change just pay urban Meyer whatever he wants for a 4-6 year run and he will leave an assistant behind to take his place.
he's only 61, hes young enough to get it done.
 
Has anyone ever directly asked Mario how to reconcile the "tough/man" talk with consistently turtling up to the "most risk averse" decisions (even literal formations) when the pressure rises? I think those two realities contradict. But, who knows how he views it. I'd be fascinated by that response.

but this group of money guys will only do it for mario. thats why when it was the lane argument - the money would not have come with lane.

i dont think urban will ever come back to coaching.

I believe we are entering the "performance incentives era" of corching contracts and there will be much less (or muted at least) "give them whatever they ask fkr just win please".

Financially, this might be the "best of the suck" for schools like UM as this vanguard of other institutions charge headlong into the next few months of corching searches and hires. 👀

I had dinner last night with a quiet, behind the scenes Gaytor booster. Gato is worth $30-40MM-ish (my guesstimate). "Empy, I'm not giving a ******* penny to those idiots and I'm not the only one who feels that way..."
