No way I'm writing Deion off. NIL is likely big for most players, but so is the aura of Prime. I refuse to believe JSU was the highest bidder for Hunter

True, but if McClain was enamored with Sanders wouldn't he have been in contact with Prime when the man was still coaching at Jackson State? He's suddenly on board with a Colorado program that went 1-11 last year and a city that is -24º F today, after being all over Miami for months?

Perhaps I have been unclear. Deion, alone, is not going to get many high level recruits to his school, wherever that is. But, if things are reasonably close, my opinion is that some kids will come because they want to play for the legend that is Deion.

Your question might just prove my point. If the kid has been Miami for months and is suddenly talking to Colorado, what changed at Colorado that got his interest?

Edit: from 12/25's 247:

If you need an elite corner, Rodrick Pleasant will be at the top of the list of available targets. Pleasant is the No. 80 prospect in the country. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback is one of the fastest players in the Class of 2023. Pleasant has already visited Boston College, Cal and Oregon. Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, UCLA and USC are all in the mix. Deion Sanders’ hire at Colorado changes things, too.

“I’m going to consider Colorado,” Pleasant told 247Sports. “Deion is the greatest DB in NFL history so you have to give them a look with him taking over there now. I think a lot of players are going to consider Colorado and I’ve heard good things. I still have two trips left and have a lot to sort out.”

So for those telling me Deion doesn't really matter, start listening to the actual players in the game and stop just running your mouths.

In hindsight the 2008 class didn't live up to it, but at the time of signing day they were the #1 class and they were loaded with HS talent.

Without looking, in the class with Taylor were Gore, Parrish, Wilfork, Rolle, Jennings, Winslow, McIntosh, Harris. You can argue this was the best Canes best class ever.
Was an amazing class. To @SWFLHurricane ’s point though the beauty of that class was only Gore, Sean, Winslow and rolle played as true freshmen because the team was already loaded.

I remember Sean T and Winslow being complete animals on special teams as freshman… especially that kick off team. It seemed like one of those two were in on every tackle.

They never got coached up. That is my concern as long as Gattis is here.
