back on planet earth mario is not getting fired and dorsey is not coming here. If Dorsey wanted to be here he would be already. He's not leaving a NFL OC position to come to a CFB OC position. Sorry

Mario will succeed here if he can put 2-3 really strong recruiting classes together (not good but great recruiting classes). He needs to get a stout OL in place to run his preferred offense. It will take some time (at least a couple of full recruiting cycles plus some maturation of those recruits). He will succeed here, if he can do that. JR & others will be absolutely critical to the process. It will take Mario time but he's trying to build a solid foundation that will last.

In the interim, the offense should be last year's passing game PLUS 5-10 much better run plays where they rep the heck out of the blocking schemes (even if there's little-to-no contact in practice & it's done in slo mo). The offense has to be geared now to the players you have. It would be a major error to force a scheme on them that they just can't execute (especially now with a depleted OL). We can be a more balanced offense (including a power run game) in 2-3 years (assuming OL recruiting remains very stout).

In the interim, the results on the field need to be better. That starts with the play of the depleted OL. Mario, Mirabal and the RB coach have got to figure out ways to protect the QB or things will go from bad to worse. All players on offense need to protect the QB or we won't have any QBs left. I've always disagreed with the notion that Mallory & others shouldn't have to block. Thats how your QB gets hurt. With the brutal turnstile performance of the OL at the end of the Duke game, it's now not enough to just rely primarily on the OL to protect Jake. All of the TEs and the RBs need to protect the heck out of Jake to keep him healthy & give him a chance (same with Jacurri when he's in). Things will only improve if there's a cohesive effort by all of the offensive coaches to protect the QB.

It will likely take Mario 3 years to get us back to being a highly competitive team. He will need time & the support of the fans. We have every right to be disappointed in the W-L record this year. Coaches need to do better...much better. However, calling for Mario to be fired in Year 1 is premature, an emotional response and shows a lack of understanding that he will need to recruit his way (over 2-3 years) to better performance.

People tend forget this is just who we are now.

It simply amazes me. There’s being caught up in ur feelings & then there’s what I just read.

Like the Peach Bowl didn’t happen
Like Clemson beating the brakes off of us didn’t happen
Like UVA closing out the OB 48-0 nothing didn’t happen
Like FIU didn’t happen
Like losing back to back games to Duke didn’t happen (or losing 3 of 5 to Duke hasn’t happened)
Like being on a 3 game losing streak to UNC or 4 of 6 games loss to them didn’t happen
Like getting shut out in a bowl game against a G5 opponent didn’t happen

I literally can go on & on, yet some how losing to Duke this yr is the worst thing that’s ever happened to this football team.

Mario needs to go...sign a top class and tell Gattis to spread the formations until we have better OL/WR.

Some of the rumors coming out of Nebraska don’t paint frost as the most responsible guy.

“Just know this, it’s not about the losses, or the lack of wins; you can call it that. There so much … if someone wanted to write a book about this tenure … first of all it would allow Trev (Alberts) to walk away and go, ‘this is why.'”
Severe then detailed things that he said the Cornhuskers Athletic Director couldn’t talk about but were very clearly major contributing factors to why the former Huskers coach was fired just three games into the season and just a few weeks before his buyout would have been greatly reduced.

“He can’t talk about his head coach showing up late to practice every day,” Severe continued. “He can’t talk about his head coach not making recruiting phone calls.” The radio host also made it clear that now that the regime change has officially happened, he’s freer to talk about these things.

“There’s a whole bunch of stuff …” he added. “It was a mess up there.” He then dropped one of the bigger bombshells of the entire appearance and one that really should have raised red flags. To the point where it’s a surprise things were indeed kept so quiet around the Nebraska football program."

“You had assistant coaches going to the athletic department, the AD and saying ‘hey, this is happening, help us.’ That should no happen, you should not have to have your assistant coaches complaining about your head coach because he’s not doing what he’s supposed to be doing.”
