As @DMoney said, everyone knows Miami’s season is high stakes, can they finally take the leap? But for Mario Cristobal, it’s even bigger. This is the most pivotal campaign of his coaching career.

This year will answer the question that has plagued him his whole coaching career: is he "The Guy," or just the foundation builder who peaks early and never turns the corner? Is he the long-term answer, or simply the stepping stone who makes the job more enticing for the next guy? We’re about to find out.

As many have said before, if Mario fails, I believe we will never again see the dollars allocated to football necessary to win another national championship. Sometimes I need to remember the factors playing against Miami, and that the "good ol' days" simply won't happen again in today's college football landscape.

The cards will always be stacked against Miami, so for that reason alone I will support Mario until his last day at the U. Hopefully, that is 10+ years.

The posts just above this one are spot on. If he doesn't succeed, we're in long-term trouble. Who would be next? Who are we getting that has the recruiting chops that he has (even in a weak ACC etc)? Kirby and Sark ain't coming here.. Yes, there are plenty of gameday questions based on actual recent experience.. hopefully we overcome those this year and compete for ACC and national titles..

There's not going to be a guy after this. Cristobal has a few years left before anyone at Miami would be willing to fire him and by then conference realignment will be cemented. If Miami doesn't perform over the next few years they're going to be left out of whatever happens between the SEC and BIG10.

I don't think Miami fans know how important it is for Mario to work out here, whether you like him or not.
