Mario Has Failed This Program

I hope it's true he talked to Candle but it was a non-starter because Candle wanted to bring his staff. Now maybe Cristobal will finally realize he is f#cking atrocious at picking a staff and will let the next OC hire everyone.
That's the concern with Mario. Sure he's an elite recruiter and he'll make sure the o-line is legit, those are both pretty big. HOWEVER, that means he IS a CEO type coach because he knows absolute **** about defense or (somehow) offense. Therefore, he HAS to be good at identifying and hiring good coordinators which he may not be.

Steele might be okay (not a home run) but Gattis was the worst coaching hire anyone made all year (and I'm not talking about in hindsight either, any digging AT ALL revealed he was getting demoted at Michigan). This is by far his biggest red flag imo. He spent FOREVER interviewing and supposedly validating coaching candidates' backgrounds yet still chose Gattis.

His next offensive coordinator hire will tell us everything we need to know....that or I'm being optimistic since we're stuck with Mario, and he's already shown us what he is.

But what if the doesn’t want Mirabal?
I like Mirabal but nobody can be put above what's best for the program

Let the new coach bring his own guys, have two OL coaches if necessary since Mirabal has tenure, then any Mario guys who don't make the official staff cut can be retained as analysts if Mario wants them around for loyalty/comfort reasons.

If he had any honor, he’d resign. He could have 85 five stars with perfect composite ratings and it would simply make no difference. Give him Georgia’s team, and with his chosen staff they would be barely better than Miami’s current record.
okay but history shows he has done a good job rebuilding program

It’s been a coaching abomination.

I can’t think of a single player who’s gotten better from last year or a single play where they’ve been put in an advantageous position scheme wise.
maybe the players are limited: you got transfers, who were probably second and third stringers at their previous locations, being some of key playmakers

It really is incredible, having the only roster in America where every single player reach their potential last year and had no room for improvement.

This is hide sight. Didn’t we all praise Mario including the football world for assembling a great staff that was the best in ACC? It’s not going well now, we all have amnesia.

He did well at Oregon. Did he all of a sudden forget how to coach? I will give him 2 more years to right the ship. Remember, next year will be another learning curve for our players with a new OC and May be new DC too.
I have doubts about Cristobal, based on his last 2 games against Utah State, but he had like 18 players out. Give the guy a chance, this is the guy that took a team into the horseshoe, beat the Ohio State. Won Pac 12, Rose Bowl etc. He hired the Frank Broyles winner, brought in a DC with a long history of success. No one during the offseason was *****ing about any of these moves. ****, the spring game we had walk-on's playing all over the place, this dog was worst then most folks now are admitting

Our OL couldn't get one-yard last year to save its life, same this year.
Defense broke down last year, breaks down this year.
We had to have a reserve QB play out of his mind to win 7 games, against a mediocre ACC team's

Mario went big name hunting for coaches with little thought to cohesion. He also overestimated the ability of a power run offense with our roster. Those mistakes, along with brutal injuries to key players, and you have the disaster of a season we are experiencing.

In a way, this is better than winning a couple more games and convincing yourself that “we are close” and just needed a couple things to bounce our way. I think this is bad enough that you scrap the **** thing to the foundation and really address the deficiencies of every facet of this program.
Trying to be an optimist, this is hopefully the silver lining. Mario started going back to archaic offensive philosophies and what we have is an anemic offense, and that's being kind. I really do hope that Mario isn't another coach, in a long line of former (failed) Miami coaches that chose to stayed married to a particular concept, rather than accepting a different more preferred alternative.

This makes sense. Will he, though? Worst thing for me as a fan, I fell off a cliff 1000-ft and survived, numb but survived, is that good…

Sadly our next coach will come from the high school ranks. School tried to spend amd blew it all.

How in the world did Mario have success elsewhere??
What success elsewhere? He’s had 2 other HC jobs and got fired by FIU and went to a rose bowl at Oregon which is not a difficult place to win at. Not to mention he had a generational talent at QB in Justin Herbert who he didn’t utilize correctly.

Sorry, you’ll have to born again, as in “Deja vu all over again.” You remind me of #20 below.

Dude we’ve scored three touchdowns in the last 14 quarters. Zero in our last nine.

You’re desperately reaching.

HE SHOULD resign tonight and back to making some team in Nebraska happy
