Mario has “Institutional Armor”

This for all the fire Mario NOW crowd. Let me break down to you why our (fans) prayers and energy should be directed towards Mario having a self-reflection/come to Jesus moment versus Mario should and will be fired ASAP emotions.

Plain and simple Mario has complete institutional armor right now.

1) The President of the school (albeit before he was President) helped brought him here. Think about that for a moment.

2) The big money backers and boosters are tied to him.

3) Radakovich came here knowing it was a rebuild and I guarantee Mario told them that in the interview as well. Should they have believed it? Probably not. But the portal and quick turnaround was a little newer and it was less evidence in 2021.

4) The buyout. We know this school not coughing up a 40 million dollar buyout.

So as a fan base, we’ll be better served to “try”forcing him to make changes with adapting/evolving/running the program. That’s where I think strategically the pressure points are and where we as fans can force more change. And that doesn’t not mean just changing the coordinators. It means hiring smarter and better people and getting out of the way. That’s what successful CEOs do.

As more knowledgeable people have already said, and most of us/you know this man is not going anywhere anytime soon!

So downvote the post, put the vomit emojis or whatever. I’m just speaking once the emotions are calming down from my personal angle. You don’t have to like or agree.
You’re right… he’s got all the plot armor in the world right now, but there IS one thing that can rust that armor. TOXICITY

The more toxic we are, the less effective that armor will be.

It won’t get him fired after this season, but if we really love this program, and we really want what’s best for it, we will be more toxic than we’ve ever been. Our only chance to save ourselves the full length of his contract is to ramp the toxicity up NOW.

FLY THE BANNERS!!

Totally agree he’s not going anywhere soon. Couple more years of 9/3 8/4 with no Acc title or no playoff berth and things may change. He made a good hire in the DC. He has to let Dawson loose or get an OC that can open it up, and get out of the way adapting his core identity of pound, pound, pound. People change, but it’s easier said than done. The guy has a better chance of ordering a decaf cafecito. And Mario ain’t that dumb, he may be bulletproof inside UM, but Miami is a front-running pro town, and he’s losing the room. From number 2 in the nation to giving out free hamburger vouchers for ticket holders in a matter of three weeks is not a good look.

I see your point and I respect it. I’m just more of a “let him sabotage himself”

I don’t like the super toxic ish because all it does is set the program back even further.

**** if I had the choice I’d rather him keep fcking up but bringing in top 10 classes rather than fcking up and it’s so much toxic around the program the foundation crumble back down and back to no one wanting to come here. I’ll let him sabotage his own self.

At real programs the big money don’t put up with this bs for long.. at least in today’s college football.

But at Miami, all the big money folks are all Mario’s homeboy.

Wanting to get him fired is a waste of time.. at least for now imo

honestly wtf are you guys talking about?

LSU is 5-3 and Kelly would likely still be there if he wasn’t a complete dirt bag who rubs everyone the wrong way.

Florida? Look at Napier’s record before they finally canned him. Florida State still has Norvell coaching despite being 6-14 over his last 2 years.

It took Hugh Freeze 3 straight losing seasons before firing him. Lincoln Riley has had less success over the last 3 years than Mario and is sitting behind us this year. Franklin had 10 years of coming up short and only was canned after his team quit on him and they had embarrassing losses to Northwestern and UCLA. Venables survived a 6-7 season in year 3.

Agreed. Mario getting fired is non-starter. Just need him to hit on the right OC like he did with his DC.

It started when they asked Dawson about running inside and he went with his condescending smug answers. Then proceed to lay an egg. 2nd in 3 games. Next thing, there maybe more losses on the way. Every game is gonna be close if this is how we continue to play. It always happen in year 4. Shannon, Golden. Diaz it happened sooner because of the abomination v UNC at home.
Wayyyyyy before then if paying attention.. the entire philosophy of this season and mentality of team to try to do 4 minute offense and prevent defense for entire 4th qtr was an absolute terrible mindset to permeate through out the team.. Started ND game, 4th qtr we almost choked away.. When some would point out, koolaid was TOO THICK and good and were immediately told entire country saw us dominate and it didnt matter if we let them tie game.. Then we did it again with UF where we dominated but they get INT and you look at score and its 13-7 with them having ball..

Then Shannon has odd answer that kinda goes under radar where he says I dont deal with run game I just run whatever Maribal wants.. But he is OC, hmm.. That was initial crack before this week presser which roles into sidelines blowup with Mario and such..

The biggest reason is because Miami wouldn't even be a Top 5 job on the open market right now.
If miami could buy out mario right now the next guy is making 10 in a year in miami, combined with a weak conference, and the talent is ready to win right now. LSU is a resourceful program don't get me wrong but I think it's really underselling miami.

Any suggestions on how we “force him to make changes?”

That was hyperbole. Mostly.

One point tho… when was the last time Mario landed a top 10 class??

If they really want the school to succeed, they are already looking at all options.

If they really want the school to succeed, then would have thrown the same amount pre-Mario. From my understanding that is not accurate for the current "big money"

I think what being missed by a ton of people is that Miami is still 6-2 and, from an outsiders perspective, fine. Not everyone mind you but far more than you would think.
There are far far more CFB issues around the country than our situation.
Season ain’t over yet. What if they finish 7-5?

Zero accountability environment at Miami allows coaches to be egomaniacs.

Being responsible to no one is something that a lot of people can't handle.

Im surprised other people like Saban or Herbstreit don't reach out privately.

That's what would be needed. Someone Mario has infinite respect for and emulates to make him see the light.
I'll give him a call
