Mario has “Institutional Armor”

Major reason why I never wanted Mario. Besides from his on field assness.

The powers that be will not hold him accountable
I don’t think that’s true with the leadership we have now. He will definitely have more “benefit of the doubt” but make no mistake, Echevarria won’t put up with this unchecked for long. He was the CEO of Deloitte, CEO of UHEALTH, and is a major Canes’ sports fan. The guy is a shark and isn’t going to allow the amount of investment to go completely wasted without holding Mario accountable and making changes as issues arise.

Maybe only because the conference those teams are in. If we are talking about history. Miami has more titles than every school who had an opening now. The ACC really holds us back in a lot of ways. A lot of big time recruits want to play in the SEC or Big 10 also. I hate that we are stuck in this **** conference
I hate the ACC too but I mean some of these SEC jobs might not be what someone like Lane Kiffin wants to do. Honestly I could see him and maybe some of the other big names passing on a program like LSU for an NFL job.

I think what being missed by a ton of people is that Miami is still 6-2 and, from an outsiders perspective, fine. Not everyone mind you but far more than you would think.
There are far far more CFB issues around the country than our situation.
Feels like we are 4-3 lol

We’re stuck with this stubborn ******* whether we like it or not. It is what it is. So enjoy a slow death of inside runs

On3? What kind of maniac uses On3???

The 247Composite, which non maniacs use, shows Miami last finished top 10 in 2024. Finished #14 in 2025 and is currently outside the top 10.

Manny, Al, Mark, Onion and Clappy all finished with classes on par with what Mario had been delivering.
Okay what’s the point? I’m not trying to defend the dude I’m just answering your question. Using your preferred method…..

2022 - had to throw a class together
2023 - 7th
2024 - 4th
2025 - 14th
2026 - currently 11th

Manny Diaz had a class ranked 27th, 11th and 16th

I’m not even looking further. I guarantee you the only one in here now trying to downplay the man recruiting and now arguing Manng Diaz class was on par. You can doubt **** near justifiably doubt everything Mario does. Everything but his recruiting better than the people you named.

I thought this was a 10-2/9-3 team B4 the szn simply because of Beck being a major downgrade at QB from Cam Ward…everybody here screamed how he will take check downs n have our offense more balanced and that Aged like Milk, I thought he’d be decent but not this bad...I’m not really all that surprised we are 6-2 I just thought the Ls would come somewhere in the first 5 games. We looked like we could hang with anyone in the country.

Pay Saban $1 million (or more) to come spend the summer with Mario and teach him how to run an actually dominant football program. How to maintain excellence for 5 months and get better as the season progresses. How to bury teams that you should bury. How to let your coordinators be coordinators. How to have a disciplined football team. How to yell at the refs when they make a bull**** call. Etc.

This for all the fire Mario NOW crowd. Let me break down to you why our (fans) prayers and energy should be directed towards Mario having a self-reflection/come to Jesus moment versus Mario should and will be fired ASAP emotions.

Plain and simple Mario has complete institutional armor right now.

1) The President of the school (albeit before he was President) helped brought him here. Think about that for a moment.

2) The big money backers and boosters are tied to him.

3) Radakovich came here knowing it was a rebuild and I guarantee Mario told them that in the interview as well. Should they have believed it? Probably not. But the portal and quick turnaround was a little newer and it was less evidence in 2021.

4) The buyout. We know this school not coughing up a 40 million dollar buyout.

So as a fan base, we’ll be better served to “try”forcing him to make changes with adapting/evolving/running the program. That’s where I think strategically the pressure points are and where we as fans can force more change. And that doesn’t not mean just changing the coordinators. It means hiring smarter and better people and getting out of the way. That’s what successful CEOs do.

As more knowledgeable people have already said, and most of us/you know this man is not going anywhere anytime soon!

So downvote the post, put the vomit emojis or whatever. I’m just speaking once the emotions are calming down from my personal angle. You don’t have to like or agree.
You are right. He's not going anywhere, and I'm a little surprised at how many fire Mario posts there are because it's so wholly unrealistic.

Anyways, I don't think the fans will have much say in forcing Mario to change or adapt, although the attendance the next 2 weeks may have a tiny effect.

IMO, it boils down to the big money backers asking Mario what went wrong and what can be done to fix it. I refuse to believe that intelligent businessmen that want a ROI on their investment will not ask questions. I mean, right now, the likelihood of an 8-4 or 9-3 team is far greater than 10-2. A 3 or 4 loss team with this roster when we started 5-0 is going to lead to some difficult conversations, or at least I hope so.

I don’t even pay attention to the fire Mario posts.
Even though I want him gone, it’s not going to happen for a long time. We’re stuck with him for close to 5 more years, and that’s if our dumb Athletic department doesn’t give him a 20 year extension in the next two years.
I’ve come to terms with the fact we are totally screwed. He has elevated the program from a 6 to 8 win team, to a 8 to 10 win team. So, I guess I should be thrilled. Mario ain’t winning **** here or anywhere else for that matter, I’m certain of that.
This program is just destined to wallow in mediocrity for eternity.

Whoever assembled the Mario avengers team has done the Miami football team an injustice. All we hear that boosters will leave and the money will dry up if Mario leaves so I asked this question where are the big money boosters under Coach Mark Richt who even though was fired, at the time still had credibility to leave Miami in the right direction, where was Mark’s funds that’s Mario gets the fail with? So let’s stop calling them Miami boosters and call them what they really are…….Mario investors

He might for now but if he’s the same bull**** in year 6, he might not last any longer.

what is Cristobal's buyout after year 5 next year?

why can't the university just conduct a NATIONAL coaching search and find the best candidate rather than always hiring a guy who either NEVER WAS A HEAD COACH ANYWHERE or a retread?

Coker- never a head coach but a coordinator at Miami
Shannon- never a head coach but a coordinator at Miami
Diaz- never a head coach but a coordinator at Miami

seriously WTF?!! as if this is Middle Tennessee State!

just hire the best @#$@# coach in the country that you can get!

Truly believe his HS recruiting prowess is way overrated.

Here's a list of his two most productive recruits at each position since he arrived here in December 2021:

QB - Emory, ?
RB - Fletcher, Lyle (bust)
WR - Toney, Trader (bust)
TE - R.Williams, Lofton (bust)
OL - Mauigoa, Cooper
DE - Bain, Blount
DT - Molten, Scott (borderline bust)
LB - Bissainthe, Aguirre
CB - Frederique, Brown
S - Fitzgerald, Day?

Toney, Bain and Mauigoa are considered elite but there's simply not much else to show for these highly rated classes from 2022-2025. The list of busts is too long to post I don't have enough time to painstakingly comb through each class and identify the numerous 4-star busts.

He was ready to come here when he was at FAU. I think the south Florida lifestyle fits him. And yeah I could see the NFL possibly giving him a try.

After more than 10 years and 1 win a decade ago against Ohio State
While true, the entire landscape changed in the last few years with all the money thrown around.

Franklin, Jimbo, and Kelly all being bought out with ridiculous numbers has proven that.

If he came here and had any success he would have gone elsewhere in less than 3 years. Who knows, maybe even Bama would have taken him if the timing lined up. He’s coached at so many places at this point, when the big schools have openings there’s a good chance he’s already been their HC
