Mario getting schooled by Sumlin

Outside of alabama thats college football now. Ohio state purdue. Clemson syracuse last year. We have the worst QB in college football. Until we fix that not going anywhere
Yup 7 ranked teams lost Saturday . It’s been 5-7 upsets every week for the past month

I disagree. You can find plenty examples of those one off losses a team suffers, but that’s far different than what we have here. Richt is something like 2-7 for his last 9 games against P5. Most of those losses came with an overwhelming talent advantage, even considering the QB.

This is far different than Irving Maya blowing one.

Our record in the last 10 against power 5s is damning in itself but let’s not act like this is a one game thing from Urban an OSU . Almost lost to an average TCU and penn state team (QB 200 yards rushing) , struggled with Indiana, lost by 30 to Purdue , lost by 31 to Iowa last year , lost to Clemson 38-0 the year before that . Outside of Clemson those are all games where OSU was vastly more talented than the opponent . And they have a much better QB than Rosier

Hold on... almost losses are wins. We can’t deduct style points in this day and age. Iowa and Perdue are bad losses, no doubt, but that’s Light years away from 2-7.

Maya has won a ship at osu, made the playoffs and beat his primary rival. What Rich’s done here doesn’t warrant any comparison to a coach with the resume urban has.

The thing tho is richt hasn’t failed as a head coach. He’s failed as an OC...

Under richt, the O has gone backwards. There’s been no game planning. No scheming. No attempt at gaining matchup advantages. No attempt to maximize the considerable talent that O has.

If he doesn’t change up the offensive coaching staff this offseason tho, he will have failed as a HC too.

What I tell yall about Wario...

They refused and will continue to refuse to listen to us, LCE. I just drove by the prayer vigil they were having for St. Luigi at Columbus today. The Pope himself might have to fly in after they lose to UCLA next week.

Hangover after a very tough loss to Wazzu.

Wazzu is for real this year. In what would be a let down loss to Stanford...Minshew and the boys rallied late to beat the Tree. Was impressed.

They'll get destroyed if they play a real team in the ACC, B1G, or SEC, but in conference...they've been great. Pac12 is very weak this year, but still.
Maybe we should join the Pac-12.

While I understand what you are saying about needing a good support system, drawing parallels between possibly the best football coach of all time and Mario Cristobal is insane lol. Cristobal wouldn't even be allowed on Bill's staff as a quality control assistant. Bill was a two-time SB champion defensive coordinator before he even got a head coaching job. Bill was also somehow able to help the Cleveland Browns win 11 regular season games and a playoff game. Those 11 regular season wins are still the most wins the Browns have had in a season since 1989. Not to mention, that same year the Browns statistically had one of the best defenses in the league.

I appreciate you understanding. However, please tell me where I have drawn parallels between Mario and the greats.
Let me make it clear:
1. I have never, nor do I now, think Mario is a good choice.
2. I have never, nor do I now, think Mario is of the “All time” caliber.
3. The only reason this discussion got here is in post #23, I happened to offer “Food for thought” in response to pimpcane that sometimes, anything is possible with the right circumstances. Not in regards to Mario, but in a general sense.
4. I mentioned Bill and JJ as examples of this. Perhaps the mistake is where I brought this thought into the conversation, but my points are legit. Also, in my OP, I mention Mario being schooled by Sumlin. That is an indictment of Mario, not an endorsement.

Title to thread should be opposing DC of “fill in the blank” schools Richt.

"despite having one of the best quarterbacks in the country. The play calling is unimaginative. "

Observe. Just firing a head coach doesn't mean an improvement. It just means the school is on the hook for the buyout and strapped for the next hire. I'm not happy right now either, but something needs to change with our hiring practice if we want to continue with the "national championship or bust" demands.

Mario's qualifications according to our loser fanbase

1. He played or coached at Miami
2. He understands Miami
3. He is cuban

That is all you need for this fanbase to think you are a good coach.

Bonus: if he had success 20 years ago on VHS, he should get a lifetime contract

you forgot he went to columbus. He's a CORCH...and wouldnt want him here at a coaching position other than recruiting coordinator
