For all of our fans falling all over themselves to hire this guy, allow me to present some painful facts:

- He has a career head coaching record of 35-52.
- He’s coached 7 full seasons in his career.
- He’s NEVER won 9 games.
- He’s never been a coordinator (ONE year as a Co-OC)
- He was fired from FIU after winning 3 games in his sixth season.
- Butch just won 9 games at FIU in year 2.

Just a few comparisons to some other candidates being discussed who have head coaching experience:

Mike Leach:
- Leach went 57-31 in his first 7 seasons
- Two seasons with 9+ wins during that time

Matt Campbell:
- Campbell went 54-33 in his first 7 seasons
- Three seasons with 9+ wins during that time

Dino Babers:
- Babers went 55-35 in his first 7 seasons
- Theee seasons with 10+ wins during that time

Mario is another CEO:
Mario does not have a side of the ball he specializes in. He isn’t some defensive wizard, or a cutting edge offensive guru. He makes his name being an intense guy that people think can recruit. He did his recruiting while running around with an A slapped on his polo asking kids if they wanted to play for Nick Saban. I ask, is that a difficult task?

- Cristobal is yet another CEO that would require two ace coordinator hires.
- He is not some innovative brilliant X and O guy.
- We wouldn’t be able to leave one side of the ball completely under his watch.
- His recruiting prowess mostly comes from recruiting for Nick Saban and the top program.
- We’ve learned the last few years talent isn’t enough.
- As a head coach, he’a failed to do the one thing he’s supposed to: win.

Hmmm.
A guy that people say is high energy, a good recruiter, but would come to Miami with a losing record and doesn’t have a track record of being elite on one side of the ball as a coordinator... sound familiar?

Wasn't the knock on Richt that fired coaches never win a National Championship?

I would sincerely hope that the BOT by now has learned their lesson.

Butch, Mario, Schiano, Stoops....it's time to leave those names in the past.

Bring us Babers, Neal Brown, or Mike Leach. It's time for an aggressive, innovative coach.
Agreed.

Is your name JR? You must be a racist!

Mario with good coordinators and assistants would have me sold. I worry about him not being an innovative offensive guy, but hiring one would solve that. He cut his teeth under Saban, so he knows how to run a program.

He just landed a top 5 class at Oregon. He's definitely one of the top recruiters in football. Not just because he was at Bama.

this is so dumb. hes had 2 head coaching gigs in his tenure, one being fiu when he had almost no experience of coaching prior to the hire (coached only 3 years under COKER being an oline and TE coach) after this he goes to bama to learn under saban for 3 years (killed the recruiting trail) now hes at Oregon already resurrecting the program and has a top 5 recruiting class.

if we as a program really want to build the fence around the tri county area of sFla he is the guy to do it. this man could get Forrest gump to flip to Miami if he got an in home visit... #1 candidate and by far the best available hire no doubt in my mind.

Butch has the skills to REBUILD the program ..... and most people are ignoring this ..

Miami needs to be REBUILT .... that will take someone with the PROVEN SKILLS to do that
And that would be Bill Clark. He took a program that had been discontinued and in the second year back won their conference. That's more than rebuilding that's starting from the ground up. There is a reason he just won coach of the year.

But he is a good looking guy too lol... You need that to wow some mom's. I bet he quick fuccked a few too.

The problem with the OP is he listed 2 guys who have zero interest in Miami. **** Babers has zero interest in going anywhere . Campbell we could get though.

Disagree. I think Leach for sure and Babers very possibly would be interested. I really don't like Campbell

FIU was a brand new football program when Mario went there. He was also a brand new coach.

He’s got a top 5 class right now at Oregon. That’s never happened before
