Have to agree that we ought to try to find a way to get him on board as an analyst at the least. The guy clearly has potential.

In this case, the direct snap through the center's legs was something that began with the old single wing formation concepts, (which now are seen in the "wildcat")

The play is also part of south florida lore, as it was used by the pop warner team in Miami Shores in the 1970's

We actually ran the same type of play on my pop Warner team in the 70’s in Cocoa.

That pretty well sums it up. Is Mario what he's always shown (please go back and look at his history "offensive" before responding), or is he evolving? This season will show us.

I don’t know why people are criticizing Herbert’s development at Oregon. He put up numbers and was the second qb drafted that year. He is and has been the second best qb in that draft class. Mario didn’t prevent him from anything

so i dont get it. we field the worst offense in the football era of this school and now we have posters saying i told you so before we even take a spring snap? im happy w the direction of the new OC hire but w offense, you gotta show it first. he could run the wishbone as long as we score. we didnt score last year. also, interesting how the posters who couldnt take the heat when we **** the bed now returned to CIS saying i told you so lol bc were offseason champs again.

he didnt prevent him. i think the argument is that herbert was FAR and AWAY better immediately (remmeber he got thrown into action bc a team doc stabbed tyrod) than he was at UO in terms of a passer. the rep on herbert was that he was more like tannehill coming out of college. it obviously wasnt the case. either way, herbert still put up numbers at oregon.

the tuffness bro has a full season of evidence where as the columbus ******* have nothing. maybe lets see how it plays out in the spring first before anyone (either side of it) takes victory laps. will mario let dawson run his preferred O is my question. no one knows that answer until we get some real live snaps and see what we put on the field.

Would Mario do a OC in waiting type hire?

If the W&M OC also has WRC experience, then I’m sure he works with Dawson for a couple years, assisting with game planning/scheming, and Dawson takes a HC job and W&M OC becomes our OC.

Also allows for continuity.

Agreed. The narrative was that Mario (fairly or unfairly) was labeled as a Neanderthal **** bent on a bro style offense. With the hiring of Dawson and reports that he interviewed potential coordinators like Taylor, that narrative has been pretty much debunked.

Obviously, time will tell but I think we can be encouraged that Mario seems to be willing to think outside his supposed comfort zone.
