I would run through a wall for Heatherman and JT. Young players feel the energy and love they have for the game. I think they will need to make a CFP playoff run before the high-end offers will come. The coaches and the players have an opportunity before them to change the narrative and show the world how good things are in Coral Gables. I think they will shock the world in the playoffs and all the platitudes and flowers for the players and coaches will follow

I don’t think he’s leaving. The reason I say it is he’s a legend down here and he bought a house in the Gables after selling that house he had forever in plantation. I think he wants to stay here and if Heatherman is here another year I don’t know that he doesn’t get the DC job.

That's just Mario trusting his people around him and making sure they are all on the same page. I didn't see anything wrong with it. Especially since we have had coaches like Golden and D'onofrio who thought they were the smartest person in the room wherever they were.

I mean 3rd and 20 wouldn't have been the end of the world, either. Good chance we get a sack or INT in that situation. ;). The only question was if they would punt on 4th and 9, or go for it. So yeah, a little thought had to go into that one.

Brother, I hear you, but our HC needs to know that declining a penalty is the correct decision.

Um, no brother. The game is tied at 3. A&M is punting the ball on 4th and 9 with an entire quarter left to play. And no, you don’t accept the penalty and move them back to give them another chance to convert.
 
With the college football world ever changing, I think we’ll see more guys like Heatherman stay as highly paid DC’s to not have to deal with all the extra CEO non-sense college coaches are dealing with nowadays.
I could see him being our version of Venables who stays despite yearly head coaching offers/interest until a prime/his dream spot opens.

He just seems like he loves the play calling, defensive scheming, and being Mr. Crazy eyes/high intensity on the sidelines that could get drained if he had all the other responsibilities if he were to be a Head Coach.

He will be tough to retain with this D line performance. D Lewis has brought some juice as well. Would love to get at least one more season out of JT. They're building something special here. This is what a Canes D line should look like.

A&M already went for it on 4th down on their own 46. That 3rd down was 3&6 on our 38 which imo was 4 down territory as long as Reed doesn’t take the sack. Which he did and changed the math for TAMU. But it’s probably worth discussing the exact down and distance and the likelihood TAMU goes for it.

I haven't been critical as I've been questioning Mario's decision making and if a star player like Jason can effectively coach. The questioning is answered, both are up to the task at hand. Mario has learned from mistakes and DOES NOT REPEAT THEM. Jason's DL is incredible, they are cohesive, supportive and play their positions perfectly. Rarely do they leave openings, the past 3 games have been flawless and spectacular. It sure has been fun, hopefully continues and should since OSU is over rated and no other team can compete with our well rounded, solid team.

bottom line, I'm sure the NFL is coming for him as a DLC. So, he'll have a choice - uproot and climb the NFL ladder or stay put and get an elevated role with the team. Not sure if he's on the DC track or not for college. At least not yet.

I remember watching Art Kehoe's Offensive Lines, they were a unit, everyone came off the ball in unison and we've had quite a few of his players go high in the draft. The way Jason has this line playing is they guard their area with authority before moving in on the kill. Bain doesn't get frustrated when they run away from his position he guards his responsibilities before pursuing. That's being a team not egotistic and playing hero. Of course this team is well coached, our WR's and TE's and RB's are all great blockers and extend themselves in every play. Even our special teams lay big hits and haven't given up big returns. Saturday was an anomaly for Davis as that wind was brutal and his missed kicks barely missed one hit the upright. Better then the A&M kicker who hit the one too low and missed wide on others.

At least he asks for help and gets the right call in. I think he’s a coRch at heart but he tries to do better and so I give him credit for that and for having the sense to know his limitations and do better anyway it takes.

People who don't solicit opinions from those around them when making a decision are the ones with a problem.
