Mario + Alonzo

Miami prestige >>> Oregon

Mario is all Miami in his heart
This right here. Agree 100%. When Miami is winning, no one does it like we do. It’s a style and a feel like no other. We can make our barely 60k seat stadium one of the loudest venues in CFB. We just need to dominate.

I’ve been saying this a lot lately. Although Manny did grow up in Miami, and yes obviously his dad was the Mayor, I don’t get a true Miami feel from him. Yeah he gets off the bus at the stadium with an Orange and green ornate “Guayabera” shirt. Not traditional. I feel like it’s a little gimmicky. Don’t know if it’s because he spent most of his adult life away from the city and in the south but it seems like he tries to force the Miami thing.

Mario is as Miami as Cuban coffee,
Croquetas, and banging pots and pans in the street when our teams win championships.

Weren’t we already turned down by a guy who bleeds orange & green to come on staff? I believe that was one Kevin Patrick. Matter of fact, believe some who know him said he wouldn’t come back b/c his wife hated the suburban life of Miami; yet, he just joined Willie’s staff at FAU. (I know it’s Boca Raton)

No one wants to come back to this chit hole this admin has created. Mario has it good in Eugene; bout to get a raise, has some of the nicest facilities in the nation, full support from their sponsor, Nike (unlike us w Adidas), and w USC & UCLA down and Peterson unexpectedly leaving U Dub’s sideline, he’s got the whole West Coast to himself for high profile players. Why would he turn all that down for a team that is literally the opposite?

Dude was on staff w Butch & Saban & is a two time national champion; he knows how a football team is supposed be ran and what it looks like....sorry gents, that ain’t us.

You are correct.

Mario (or anyone worth a ****) only comes back with certain preconditions met.

Blake tied himself to Manny's second year after this Alonzo embarrassment

For competitive money, Mario would take the job. Oregon cant sustain a roster in the Pac 12 to compete with the SEC big boys. He doesn't have the recruiting base. Mario and every coach knows that. It isnt the Miami past that draws these coaches it is the talent base.

Oregon is fun, they have been a hot name here and there, but it is in the middle of nowhere. Can they land a few big fish? Sure, but convincing Cali or Florida or other southern states guys to go there year in year out is hard unless you pay them like Chip. Mario hit his ceiling with Rose Bowl win. They could make CFP and get rolled by Clemson or SEC, but they beat the 3rd best team in BIG, not as good as they appear.

What indications are you looking for? The coach of another program to come out and publicly state that he wants the UM job currently held by someone else?
I get your point, I just think people are overvaluing how attractive Miami looks right now. We all know the problems we have are deeper than just a new HC, yet people just assume successful P5 coaches want the job. I'm not a Mario fan, but the guy is 20-6 in 2 years and that's worlds better than anyone we've had in a long, long time. Until proven otherwise, I'd assume he's comfortably with all the money and support at Oregon...at least in comparison to the cheap *** nonsense he'd get at Miami.

For the fanboys

O Mario, Mario, wherefore art thou Mario?
Deny thy Oregon and refuse thy duck.
Or if thou wilt not, we will sure be f**ked
And we will never win again.

A true tragic love story, the Mario fanboys and Mario. Even more tragic, if we do not search for the best coach and hire another guy associated with the program because is is a Cane.

The program owes it to the players and fans to bring in the best coach, not just a Miami guy. Four of the last five guys to lead this team were Miami guys, we owe it to the program to search beyond Blake and the BoT's rolodex.
