Mario + Alonzo

And as much as I would want it to happen, has a coach(college) ever got fired after just 1 season?

What are the actual downsides of it in our situation? We get a bad reputation as a place HC's don't want to come to? We can check that box already. What must be done eventually, should be done immediately.

Where does this stuff come from? There is no indication Mario wants to come here. And more importantly there has been absolutely no sign of change in the worldview of the U administration. What empirical evidence is there to support any of this wishful thinking? These people aren't bringing in anybody that will make this program a success. They continue to do the same thing over and over and us fans continue to BELIEVE somehow they want to and will do better. Good thing most of us arent rich cause somebody could sell us the Rickenbacker Causeway!

So you're saying Blake has an opportunity to hire Mario/Alonzo but he probably won't but if he doesn't he knows he's probably gonna be shown the door with Manny sooner than later? Just trying to get the gist here.
All indications point to:

1) Manny sabotaging Alonzo so no hire
2) Manny making another terrible OC hire
3) Manny having another subpar year next year

This will get Manny fired 100%, he's not on a 3 year leash after this abortion of a year 1.

The Alonzo ordeal has shed light on the clown show that is Miami’s BOT and so they very likely will intervene and show Blake the door as well next year.

Big part of the problem is the wrong people have the power in the BOT overriding the other faction that want to right this ship.

I agree.. this just seems toooooo unlikely of a situation for me to even have any hopes on it.

Ever hear the saying that a guy who builds a million bridges but sucks one d!ck isn't known to the world as a bridge builder, he's known as a pole smoker?

Thats Manny Diaz in a nutshell. Forever the coach who lost to fiu.

That's cool, we fan different. Since he's going to coach us next season I'm hoping he wins 9-10 games and the Coastal. If it happens you **** right I'm gonna be happy and Manny would earn my trust for at least another year. Do I believe it will happen, **** no!!!

When will you guys realize that under the current university regime we will never have nice things, in sports or anything else. I’ve never seen such incompetence anywhere except at this crummy college. We’re SunTan U again: ****** football and ****** academics from an utterly clueless administration.

cyrez8 do you actually have a connection to someone (not looking for a name but is it a booster or staff member?) or just making speculation up? What indication is that Manny makes another ****** OC hire? No names outside of a random prob BS rumor about heckendorf have been named

But assuming youre right than this is basically a win win no? Either Manny wins 10+ and gets us back on track or BOTH him/Blake get fired paving the way for someone like Mario. What am i missing here?

So, basically we’re praying that Flake grows balls overnight and tells Manure to fvck off in regards to bringing in Alonzo?

Sounds like that’s pretty much our only hope. Or that the pressure makes him cave in order to save his own ***.

It’s a win-win If Flake is replaced by a competent individual, but our track record in that department is terrible.

Do trust Zo to find a competent coach for us. It won’t be Mario, but whomever it is will be a whole lot better than anything Blake James can hire. Don’t forget, Zo knows good NFL assistants as well as college coaches. James has to go. So does Manny.

Also why would Blake even be opposed to Alonso so bad? I think its fair to assume Blake wants to keep his AD job and cushy ~$1M salary for as long as possible. If he knows he could go down with Manny next year why not bring in Alonso as "Football AD / Chief of Staff" now and take a step away from football but remain AD for rest of the school? Seems pretty logical...

It is logical for someone who isn’t power hungry. But Flake clearly enjoys being the boss, even if he doesn’t know the difference between a goal in soccer and a touchdown.

Idk Blake does not strike me as the power hungry i want the glory kind of guy. Seems like the beta type who just wants to keep his job...

I see what you’re saying, but it’s hard to pinpoint another reason for why he would be so hesitant to relinquish his role to Alonzo.

Other than you saying it, what makes you think there's backing for firing Manny this year and/or there's interest from Mario in the job? Highsmith, I don't know, but I haven't seen anything to make me think Mario is interested.
What indications are you looking for? The coach of another program to come out and publicly state that he wants the UM job currently held by someone else?
