Mario Addresses Disgruntled Parents

I’ve been called “ crabby “ and “crybby” today. Wtf is going on?

I agree with the coach but I was born in the early 80s and I left home at 18 (haven’t been back but to visit parents) to join the military so maybe my opinion is a bit harsh. Age 19, 20ish, it’s time to start learning to handle life as an adult. You have a problem with your boss either work harder or request to talk to your boss face to face to see what you need to do and or improve on. Not run to your momma at 19 and 20ish crying and they tweeting.

Coming from someone with a 21 year old.

By the way, Gilbert Frierson handled it the correct way.
Coaches take shots at players in the media all the time, sometimes more veiled than other times. Are they obfuscators or whatever that one guy said or just operators?

Earned the right ? It could’ve been a homeless meth addict saying it and they’d still be right. If you have issues with somebody in an organization talk to them straight up like a grown adult. Not running to social media acting like a teenager. It’s sad behavior. Talk to the coaches , if you don’t like the conversation go elsewhere. It’s needless drama.
*This*

This is all part and parcel of the “culture” issues we’ve had for so long. They are real, and we can’t evolve into the program we all say we want until things change in this regard. It MUST all be torn down to the earth and rebuilt. There simply is no other way.

You don’t have to like Mario or the scheme or coordinator hires, etc. But if you disagree with this kind of approach, then you’ve long since missed the point.

I understand the assertion made by @nystateofmind because we're in a different climate with kids and parents but I'd still end up siding with you about this philosophy can't be predicated on wins and "earning the right".

Because how would that actually work sequentially? You humor any disgruntled parent or "mentor" until one day you've had enough success and can tell them to "f off"? Well at that point humoring them has obviously worked for you so then why even change your philosophy?
Right. It’s kind of like the “dress for the position you want, not the one you have” philosophy.

This is fine when Saban says it. He’s earned the right.

When Mario says it, it comes across as obdurate.
How exactly do you think this type of culture gets established? Coach supposed to let players walk all over him until we’ve had a few top 5 classes? Not at all how it works. Has to be a standard you set from the very beginning and you have to be consistent or else it’s pointless.

Apologies if posted elsewhere. Mario has made some obvious mistakes this year but I think this is spot on. Establish this as the standard of how this program will deal with outside distractions of this nature and stick to it. It'll serve us better in the long run.

I would bet he told the team the same thing when he got here. I had a coach tell a *****ing parent you take your kid home and put him the back yard and he can play any position you want him to.
