We seem to have a good sized contingent of fans who don’t think Mario is the guy.

Honest question for discussion, if you got your wish and he was fired who would you want to take his place and why? I’m asking for specific names and what they bring to table and why they’d be an upgrade. Some things to consider…

-Has to be realistic. Don’t list Kirby Smart or another coach at an established power we’d never get.

-What would UM be willing to pay?

-Risky up and comer or established coach?

-Can a coach navigate all the BS that comes with coaching at UM? Local handlers, small alumni base and fan support, the dynamics of S Florida recruiting, etc.

Appreciate the genuine discussion (although I know I likely won’t get it here lol)

Merry Christmas.

And bless your heart.

Why all the qualifiers?

Mario makes $8 a year. Miami claims to have been reborn into caring about major D1 athletics. There is more than 1 coach in this country that can coach the Miami Hurricanes to the Pop Tarts Bowl for $8M --- @Memnon has lists of coaches all over at different levels that do less with more or strong records of success, etc.

Who are they? Or are you relying on @Memnon to hire UMs next coach?

They should. I am not sure he has posted a list recently. It may be in the coaching movement thread somewhere.

Is UM relying on @Angry Ibis to hire the next coach?
I would defer to wiser football minds on the hire, and lean more into eliminating excuses -- like it does not need to be a Miami guy, a winning program at Miami will bring in money to the overall school - so do not get caught up in nickel and diming it -- would also err on the side of rather than paying a huge buyout now - go the OK St/FSU route and having salary put into the NIL/player acquisition coffers for Mario.
