Manuel Diaz ?

People like you are why this program is dead.

Have you not figured out yet that this program needs a MONSTER elite HC to turn it around? And you want to hire the DC of a failing regime as if we havent gone down that failed road before???? Jesus christ

Don't need a monster elite HC, need an innovator. Every successful hire brought something unique. 4-3, spread offense, recruiting differently (Schnelly/ Butch) The common denominator is innovation.

The unsuccessful ones were hired based on past performance.

Who in CFB is known as the most innovative? Briles, Yost, Leach. I'm sure there are others.

If you HAD to hire an established coach, I'd go for Babers or Holgorsen. Or Butch Davis (who also checks the innovation box).

Davis may be the GOAT talent evaluator. If Miami could settle on a buyout with Rick, then went to Davis, hat in hand, said sorry, and offered him 1.3 million I think we'd be back in the game. Might take 2 years for him to scout the talent (even though he probably has, many of the players might not be realistic for FIU). But I guarantee year 3 we'd finish better than 7-5.

Manny would be smart to take the Gus Malzahn route and get out of dodge for a HC spot at a smaller school. He can have success there and maybe have a shot after Richt gets canned. If he stays on, his odds of being successful decrease because he's going to get killed on the recruiting trail.

Manny could get a boatload from a program committed to winning to just be a dc. Maybe Oklahoma or something similar in sec. **** saban might triple his salary to come be a analyst..

Wrong. Dead wrong.

we are back where we were in the 1970s.

it will take a guy like Howard to turn it around. this is well well beyond scheme or innovation. this is a dead program.

you are being reactionary just like after golden when everyone was convinced all we needed was a 4-3 defense. it goes way way deeper than scheme, folks.

Howard was an elite football man, a world champion coordinator, and a NFL HC.

It was a total program build then and thats what it will take now. Been saying it for years but people STILL think it wont take an elite coach? smfh

Golden really did need a 4-3 defense and his tenure would have turned out much differently. Offense and ST were light years better than Rick. Defense was so bad it overshadowed everything. With a 4-3 defense, Golden easily wins the ACC coastal on a consistent basis.

In terms of needing a guy like Schnelly, I can do you one better- the guy who brought Miami back from the dead almost 20 years ago- Butch Davis.

Butch Davis is an elite football man, a world championship coordinator, and a NFL HC. Got the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs, which even Bill Belichick couldn't do.

I think Manny is a Miami guy, and that he likes it here. I think Miami's local recruiting base is perfect for his system and if he wants to, he can paint a masterpiece here, not something I think he can do at UNC or GT as HC. IMO, he's not ready to be a HC, and his coaching hires have been a bit suspect and so has his recruiting. Smart move for him is to keep his unit playing well and see what happens with MR, because there is no way that Miami doesnt make changes. Id really like to see us poach Lane Kiffin some how some way as the OC/HCiW. He's an elite recruiter and he scores points. His elite players eat in his offense. He knows the ins and outs of Bama, and how Pete Carroll does things.
Agree about Manny. And he didn’t exactly light it up at his other gigs.

LMFAO Howard is a significantly better coach than Butch bro. Seriously.

Howard built this program from a Wake Forest type school to being the U.

Just stop bro you need to learn your history. Butch took over a year removed from us being in the OB against Nebraska. He did an amazing job but we were still THE school when he was there.

Now we are recruiting kids who have ONLY known Miami as a loser school. Its different, and much much harder to build a dead program.

“we need an innovator....so lets hire a guy whose heyday was in 1992 who runs an under center prostyle offense and a 4-3 Quarters defense!” — genius

A year ago Miami was #2 in the country and the turnover chain was the hottest thing in college football. Your throwing yourself a pity party, probably listening to The Cure right now, dressed like a goth chick and drinking absinthe. Miami can get popular again real quick.

So let’s not shoot for an elite coach?

You dont think this program is dead?

I think you got overly excited bc you think you discovered some secret of Miami success, and are desperate to find some random “innovator” when the real answer is simple: elite coaches win. Go hire one and we will win again.

Elite? You think we're getting Dabo, Saban, or Meyer?

What was Lincoln Riley's HC record when hired by Oklahoma as HC?

What was Kirby Smart's HC record when hired by UGA?

Go ahead and look them up. I'll wait.

All bullshiit aside... the odds of Manny getting picked up are higher than any other scenario happening. I said this last year in a thread and I got killed with down-votes... smh.

Oklahoma was a dead program when Riley took over? UGA was a dead program? You have no idea what you are talking about dude.

“we must find an innovator, not an elite coach only an innovator” might be the most naive thing I have EVER heard.

EVER? Do you live in your grandmother's basement?

Ok, name the coaches you think could fix Miami. You bark a lot in every thread, but I have yet to see you list a name.

So this team stinks due in part to this a senile HC with lack of offensive innovation, a ****** OL coach and an atrocious ST coach. Real question is will manny bolt for the HC gig or hang around for Rork Micht to make “CHANGES”?

I would suspect that the scavengers will be out to take what good meat is left from this carcass. This includes recruits too.
