If Virginia wins, they get an automatic bid. If Duke wins, they do not. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it, as I believe they would have to put a second scrub conference winner in.

the thought process, as josh pate has outlined is that the committee would be more inclined to act on the H2H with ND vs shutting out a p4 conference from the playoff

he thinks that the committee is more likely to put us in if the alternative is zero ACC teams

i mean they can squawk as much as they want but they have both missed the boat in the new college football paradigm. fsu is ****ed for the foreseeable future and uf is back to hiring g5 guys. i’d rather be us going forward than them.

So the committee can say we can't have a 3 loss Alabama team (one of those to FSU) at #10, Tulane at #11 and JMU at #12 to round out our playoff rankings.

A 2 loss Miami team that beat #9 ND and is the ACC's best team may be somewhat more of an attractive #10.
