So why exactly do we want this nerd to win? Is it just a sympathy thing to get at least one ACC Team in? Let me know why I should cheer for this dweeb.

If Virginia wins, they get an automatic bid. If Duke wins, they do not. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it, as I believe they would have to put a second scrub conference winner in.

the thought process, as josh pate has outlined is that the committee would be more inclined to act on the H2H with ND vs shutting out a p4 conference from the playoff

he thinks that the committee is more likely to put us in if the alternative is zero ACC teams

Sorta what I was thinking, but knowing them, they would say, "Miami is so bad a 5 loss team won the ACC."
 
FSU / UF fans will **** on us 100x if Manny Diaz wins an acc title before us

but it would burn down the tiebreakers, format, etc. of acc title game so I'm here for it

bull**** we were left out
