Manolo gets the bigger picture with the OL

you think they won't improve until 2022, i think we'll see a different product by mid season, jmo
This is where we find out how good a coach Manny is. If he's the real deal which I think he is we'll see improvements as he adapts.

This quote actually scares the **** out of me. Ensure yourself the best possible line now, not in 2022.

That is how you end up with a perpetually terrible OL. Diaz's rationale is sound. Collective starts/snaps is the most important thing you can do to develop your line.

Phil Steele has a stat about this in every issue. It correlates to success.. eventually.

Ah, Chapter 7 of the Al Golden playbook.

Push the youth angle and use it to buy yourself time and lower expectations. Gets people off your back, gives you a few years to keep saying “just you wait until we have upperclassmen at x positions” as if all good teams are starting 22 seniors.

Let em play and coach em up.

I'm not upset at all about how the freshmen played. They will improve. What bothers me is that they would have looked a **** of a lot better if they had a little help. Help their OC refused to give them. HE is the one that needs to improve the most if we are going to avoid going 7-5.

Let these OLine Freshman play together and figure it out. We will not be in the same situation versus our other competition until Clemson. Let them go week to week. If they prove themselves by keeping Jarren clean, give them another start. If they disappoint, have the back ups ready to roll. What happened to competition every week at every position? They have 2 weeks to figure who the best 5 are for the line. If they make moves, it makes someone hungry to get back to the starting position if they get bumped out. If they hold their own during practice, let them play. Only time and experience is going to improve their abilities. This will not be solved over night, but if all goes right, we will have a good oline by the end of the year and they will turn into a strength of the team for the first game next year (which we badly need for Alabama).

The Oline issue can't be fixed.... I feel you can't get bigger/stronger during the season. So if this is the best we have so be it. We can however call better plays, teach the QB to get rid of the ball, and call different formations to give the tackles help. It is now up to Enos.

And if I don’t see new formations that give us a chance I will know that we aren’t trying to win right now. Two freshmen tackles is not an excuse.

Doesn’t sound like any changes are coming honestly. I want them to at least give scaife a go at one of the tackle spots

Im fine with the long view here given our **** options. How did playing the veterans work out last year?

The only thing that irks me is this known problem not getting more scheming help from Enos. But the bigger test will be seeing if and how he adapts after getting real feedback from real games.

There is more to "fixing" the oline than getting bigger and stronger. Their biggest problems were timing at the snap, communication with the other linemen, etc. That can be fixed....and given how young and inexperienced that line is, there is a lot of opportunity to make it better. With a bye week after such a tough game, they can focus on those issues and should be better for UNC...and then after two practice games against Bethune Cookman and CMU, they should be even better for the bulk of the ACC schedule. Will they be great? Not likely, not this year. Will they be better? I'd be surprised if they weren't.

he also said jarren held the ball too long sometimes.
Jarren himself also said this right after the game. An honest assessment of all the sacks if you look at the film would tell you that the majority of them were on the Qb. He also will improve.

Not sure what else he cluld have said.

Translated: we didn’t have what we needed to win this game. And worry about the rest of the season.

When coaches start talking about next year before Sep. 1, ugh.
