Mannys Spring underrated standouts

Zion taking advantage of his opportunity his one shot , while some take it for granted the mind set of Zion is the it factor that separates a winner from oh my what have I done group .

Good for Zion everyone was against him even being offered , now he's a threat and will challenge.

GOCANES

I think everyone needs to take into consideration the context. Do we know that his progress is game ready progress or just really good sign that he is actually D1 caliber and doing a great job for a True Frosh? I would think the latter which is still a good sign. Only reason I bring up the context is because I can already see the idiots on here claiming he needs to be starting.

Great to hear who is impressing Manolo early on in Spring. We have several other secondary players coming soon, in particular Bubba Bolden. I’m interested in hearing/seeing what he brings to the table. Also great to hear Frierson is stepping up his game - him located that close to the line is going to bring additional physicality near the line of scrimmage. Look for more FF situations this year after he lays the lumber down. As to Nelson, I’m extremely excited to hear he’s stepping up in a big way, if he was only @10-15lbs more at this stage he would probably have solidified a starting role on the OL similar to what Donaldson did his freshman season. All in all, good camp reports coming out on players taking advantage of the open competition.

This. Bandy is a solid #1 CB imo. This defense needs a solid #2 and Ivey stepping up is huge. Also, I was worried Freierson was going to go his entire career as a positionless guy but he may have found his sweet spot at striker.

In all honesty there needs to be 3 corners that can be trusted. We might not play a ton of 3CB nickel because Finley is so integral but the option should be there. Plus depth is essential if Bandy gets ejected on some garbage call again or god forbid an injury occurs.

I've always been very high on Blades and I like Couch and Williams a lot too. Bandy and Ivey can both play inside. None of these options are liabilities like Dean was.

He better be **** better than Delaney or he won't play much. Delaney was **** poor for us.

I disagree. That's an exaggeration.

Agree on 3 but heck, I was just hoping for a solid #2! A solid #3 coming out of spring ball would be ideal.

Zion taking a huge jump is an even bigger surprise than Kennedy not working out so far. That's great news, to say the least.

Whoever made the decision (I assume it was Diaz) to move Frierson to striker, deserves a ton of credit. The position is perfectly suited for his skill set. No one expected for Romeo to be as good as he was in his first year at striker. I love Finley, but he is not as gifted, physically, as Frierson. As a backup to Finley, if Gilbert can provide us with the same level/quality of play as Finley did last year, we will be cook'n!!!

Sheeeeeeiiit bro, Finley is a fast maafka. Totally cool with sliding in Finley to Linebacker, and Gilbert to Striker on passing downs.

You’re playing out the “gonna **** around and get a starting spot.” It’s ******* played out already.

We got special talent at DB to make a go at any pass catchers. Pressure up front and stopping the run will be key to their success. Can't help but think of all the SOFL DB's who phucked us over the years.

Is it crazy to say that there is no other Striker I want out there then Romeo Finley manning that back 7 on August 24th against UF but when we play Bama in 2021 I **** sure want Gil Frierson as my Striker roaming around... I think Finley will lay the blueprint for the UM Striker positon but Frierson will take it to another level.
