Finley was one of the best starting DBs last year. We need to keep him on the field.
It goes without saying that we would want Finley, or any other starter to be on the field as much as possible. However, WHEN he inevitably comes off the field, it would be great if production only dropped by a little bit, if at all!

Zion now 272 pound Zion is getting closer to a tackles playing weight...another 25 and he will be there. Probably needs a year to develop technically, etc. but the lack of progress/development of the upperclassmen at OT has pushed him to the forefront.

Not true! 🐸🍵

DJ Ivey is the guy whose progress is important to monitor. He has the size, light feet and ball skills. He played a lot of zone and bail technique in HS so it's an adjustment for him to be a press corner. His biggest weakness is probably recovery speed so his technique has to be consistently on point. I think he can produce in the range of Delaney->Colbert.
He better be **** better than Delaney or he won't play much. Delaney was **** poor for us.

Glad Frierson is settling into his natural position.

Just a touch too stiff to handle CB, but will be a great asset as a striker with that length and physicality.

Zion’s question as a project was always whether or not he could maintain his athleticism after putting on the needed weight to play at this level. We will see. Sounds promising so far.

As far as evaluating him as a take last cycle, I think the issue was more so our OLine class in its entirety. People would’ve been less revolted by his offer if it came as a project stacked on top of a bunch of studs. But overall, it just seemed like another poorly-ranked add to a disappointing haul at the position.

**** ... he can make it work with 10-15 ... would prefer to shirt him tho

You could tell Zion had talent out the wazzo just was small . He will be all conference by sophomore year IMO. A great kid to take on a flyer in recruiting . I am big on offering 1-2 kid like that a year ( a ton of potential but too short , too thin ect )

You get a good kid with the lucky to be here attitude and when the coaches speak to him the eyes WIDE open , let alone the frame Zion has the strength coach going wow let me chisel this dude. These scrimmages are critical for OL one thing is certain Zion presence is now known and it raises the bar for everyone.....LOOK OUT.

Technically... he is ahead technically than majority of our tackles that have come in as a freshman in the past years, besides maybe Scaife. Obviously he could get better with technique, but the only thing that will stop him from getting pt this years is his size and strength.
