Mannys Spring underrated standouts

Zion taking advantage of his opportunity his one shot , while some take it for granted the mind set of Zion is the it factor that separates a winner from oh my what have I done group .

Good for Zion everyone was against him even being offered , now he's a threat and will challenge.

DJ Ivey is the guy whose progress is important to monitor. He has the size, light feet and ball skills. He played a lot of zone and bail technique in HS so it's an adjustment for him to be a press corner. His biggest weakness is probably recovery speed so his technique has to be consistently on point. I think he can produce in the range of Delaney->Colbert.

Zion taking a huge jump is an even bigger surprise than Kennedy not working out so far. That's great news, to say the least.

Whoever made the decision (I assume it was Diaz) to move Frierson to striker, deserves a ton of credit. The position is perfectly suited for his skill set. No one expected for Romeo to be as good as he was in his first year at striker. I love Finley, but he is not as gifted, physically, as Frierson. As a backup to Finley, if Gilbert can provide us with the same level/quality of play as Finley did last year, we will be cook'n!!!

Finley was one of the best starting DBs last year. We need to keep him on the field.

The issue with Gil has never been talent. The kid is a legit superstar, talent wise. He just did not take football seriously last year. If/when he does, the sky is the limit for that kid, especially at the new position, which I agree suits his talents better. He is perfect for that role.

Love that two guys (Ivey and Frierson) he named are in the defensive back room. We need these young pups to step up and this is a good sign. Hearing Zion's name is also huge - if he can be our swing tackle off the bench, that would be a huge surprise.

This. Bandy is a solid #1 CB imo. This defense needs a solid #2 and Ivey stepping up is huge. Also, I was worried Freierson was going to go his entire career as a positionless guy but he may have found his sweet spot at striker.

Plus if need be maybe Finley can play more of a true safety this year for us which obviously greatly reduces the chance knowles gets on the field 🤔

Manny on WQAM said these guys have made huge jumps over the Spring and are looking real good.

Gilbert Frierson
DJ Ivey
Realus George
Zion Nelson(interesting his name keeps getting mentioned)

When we look back, who will have had the bigger freshman year, Zion Williamson or Zion Nelson?

Just remember, you heard this question here first.
