Mario's only used the portal for one season here, and it's entirely possible that he'll hit the portal hard this offseason...so I think the jury is out on that comment regarding the portal. Manny didn't bat 1.000 from the portal either...see Tommy Kennedy, Asa Martin, Tate Martell, etc...but he did pull some really great players so credit where due there.

For the bold part above - You sure about that? Manny hired Dan Enos too, so he's not immune to making bad hires *at all*. Manny could have easily ended up settling for a Gattis/Enos type...especially with him being a dead man walking had we retained him.

And I agree totally that Gattis has been a dud. The points people argue about whether it's Gattis playcalling, system, or the kids not executing it well or whatever don't matter - this offense has sucked. I want a true spread system in the tradition of Lashlee blended in with a better running game. Mario really needs to learn from Manny in that way and remedy this error - Gattis was a big name, but he's just Dan Enos/Pat Nix, just more conservative.

Yes Manny had no business getting his first head coaching job at the high pressure environment that is Miami. Buy he constantly improved despite horrible scheduling, horrible field goal kickers and horrible luck with injuries and had the team at the end of last season playing the best the program has looked in a long time.

The truth is Manny never had a roster as loaded as this one and Manny never had scheduling as soft as this one. But I guess Alabama and Michigan State is Middle Tennessee State for Mario.

And we tried to tell you about Mario's track record in history, but nobody listened because he is a local boy who is plugged in with the big money.

Whole thing is a train wreck that was brought about by overly emotional and demanding and impatient fans. Now we are stuck with this incompetent steakhead on a deal that cannot be bought out.
