Manny >>> *

I was banned last year for being a slurper but everything I predicted came true.

Yes Manny had no business getting his first head coaching job at the high pressure environment that is Miami. Buy he constantly improved despite horrible scheduling, horrible field goal kickers and horrible luck with injuries and had the team at the end of last season playing the best the program has looked in a long time.

The truth is Manny never had a roster as loaded as this one and Manny never had scheduling as soft as this one. But I guess Alabama and Michigan State is Middle Tennessee State for Mario.

And we tried to tell you about Mario's track record in history, but nobody listened because he is a local boy who is plugged in with the big money.

Whole thing is a train wreck that was brought about by overly emotional and demanding and impatient fans. Now we are stuck with this incompetent steakhead on a deal that cannot be bought out.
Manny was/is a trash HC.

@NorthernVirginiaCane - You were wrong then and you're wrong now. The only difference is that you're no longer band. lol

Look at what Lashlee's offense did last night. Now ask yourself how bad the 2021 team would have been if we did not have Lashlee as OC. THAT will tell you how bad the team was under Manny.

And keep in mind that unlike all of the other coaching hires since Donna ****lala was brought in to destroy the program, Manny was not facing a total rebuild. Richt left the team in decent shape.
He hired Lashlee

Yall wanna take a look back at Manny's staff his first year? Oh how quickly some of you forget :pgdead:

Whose fault is it that our second string RB right now is a walk on?

You were banned by me for being a jackass. You wanna go again?

If Manny were still here, things would be worse. Remember, Lashlee would still be gone elsewhere. And Manny wouldn't have closed well for last class nor gotten some of the portal guys that have helped us this year. And most importantly - the culture would have continued to deteriorate under the surface of it all. Nothing that Manny would have done should we have kept him would have us in any better shape than we are today, and would almost assuredly be orders of magnitude worse.

Mario's gonna get time/resources to fix it. He's capable. Manny left him a tear down/rebuild, not just a refurbish. This team should be doing better under Mario and I have my own misgivings about some of his decisions to this point - but Manny wouldn't have been even remotely able to navigate this. We'd probably have won against B-C and SMiss, but that's probably it.

I've said this since day one, and it's a sobering thought: Mario is going to get every opportunity to fix this. He has the backing and resources to do so. That being said - if Mario can't fix this, no one can. If he doesn't succeed, it's Miami as a program that's done, and will never get back to where it ought to be in the eyes of us as fans. Sad, but true.

Best thing we can do is be critical and hold his feet to the fire to get to that standard, but support him at the same time...not be pollyanna positives...but show up and be vocal, good and bad.
Manny recruited the portal better than MC.

I honestly believe we have a better record but would stil be rotting from within. Mannyw ouldve hired another explosive offensive guy because he has shown that with the Lashlee hire. Mario had 2 chinese years to hire an oc and hired a dud from Michigan stripped of power and offensive play calling abilities.

Well, maybe we catch a break, Saban has the look of a man about ready to retire. Maybe Alabama will come after Mario and we can hire another coach. I don't say this lightly, but playing an obviously injured QB, rotating multiple QB's, an OL that is horrible (yes, I know tons of injuries). As for Reed and Highsmith, it's just a money drain, I see zero contributions. I like Mario, but last night was enough to get any coach at UM fired, FSU may be better, but not 40 points better. I have to believe that Mario realizes he made a terrible mistake coming back to Miami, not sure why he did it, money cannot make you feel better about being embarrassed in front of a nation.

He hired Lashlee

Even Lashlee was worse here than his previous and current output. I'm not even a big Lashlee fan...but...his numbers at SMU before he left, when he came back and our seasons in between...

2022 SMU (as HC)
6.35 yards per play (30th)
479 yards per game (19th)
8.3 yards per pass (27th)
331 passing yards per game (5th)
40.2 points per game (10th)

2019 SMU (as OC)
6.14 yards per play (40th)
489.8 yards per game (9th)
8 yards per pass (32nd)
309 passing yards per game (13th)
41.8 points per game (7th)

2020 Miami (as OC - COVID year ymmv)
6.02 yards per play (40th)
439.8 yards per game (32nd)
8 yards per pass (37th)
277.3 pass yards per game (29th)
34 points per game (34th)

2021 Miami (as OC)
6.13 yards per play (44th)
448.8 yards per game (20th)
8.3 yards per pass (29th)
326 pass yards per game (10th)
34 points per game (23rd)

The Lashlee offense is pretty consistent, his offense is pretty dummy proof, I don't want to re-litigate his offense, we have two years of that on this forum...but, QBs all very similar whether its Shane Buechele, Tyler Van Dyke, or Tanner Mordecai. Passing numbers would look the same with any QB with a pulse.

However, a full touchdown worse at Miami, 40 yards less per game. Also, Miami's red zone offense is worse as was their third down conversions. Pretty significantly, too.

2022 SMU Red Zone TD% is 12th in the nation, 20th overall in red zone offense.
2021 Miami Red Zone TD% was 75th in the nation, 52nd overall in red zone offense.
2020 Miami Red Zone TD% was 76th, 17th overall in red zone offense (we had the Groza winner at kicker)
To be fair, Lashlee's red zone numbers were horrendous in 2019 at SMU TD% was 63rd, in the 100s overall. Still...much worse at Miami than the bread of this sandwich.

3rd Downs
2022 - 45.59% (32nd)
2021 - 41.95% (49th)
2020 - 40.63% (61st)
2019 - 43.87% (30th)

lol

Even the coaches people consider good were STILL worse here than others. Look at Enos' (who everyone thought was the *****) production here versus his first two years at Maryland.

Wild. In the past four years, everyone looks worse here than elsewhere.

Manny is gone and good riddance

People act like we have a healthy roster full of studs who put in the extra time practicing and watching film.
But Blue Chip Ratio, bro!

We have 46 "Blue Chip" players. ymmv, but its like 10 or 11 are actual starters for us. 3 of them are transfers from other programs. We have just as many 3-star players starting than we do our "blue chip" players. Most of our "best" players are actually former 3-stars, like Restrepo, Jackson, Mesidor...most of our OL is 3-star or less like Clark, Justice, Zion, Campbell...our starting MIKE is a 3-star guy.
