Manny on The Audible Podcast

Did not realize we have 7 seniors. Attrition and losing guys like Ahmonn (who probably would be gone anyways) and Malek Young hurt. Will be depending on a lot of young, but talented guys this year. Luckily, most of them have played some already so they aren't completely green.

Yeah, we only have 7 returning seniors.

George Brown Jr.
Scott Patchan
Robert Knowles
Shaq Quarterman
Mike Pinckney
Zach McCloud
Pat Bethel

Also put that Murphy kid on scholarship and I guess Spicer is a walk-on?

Isnt Romeo Finley a Senior too? Or a 4th year/Junior?

Dabo made it to the ACCCG his first full season, twice in his first 3 full seasons, and from that point on never won less than 10 games a year. He was never a full blown corch. Here at Miami we have sniper-like precision at identifying corches. We're so starved of success here that if Manny gives us anything near what Dabo did we will have all the patience in the world.
Ur joking right... Richt got us to #2 in the country and people were saying hes a top 3 coach. Next year people were calling for his head and flying banners. We have the most impatient fan base in the world

16 class was destroyed by transfers.

All we wanted was him to hire a competent oc. He refused swords were drawn. All we wanted was competence at the head oc. If he had done this our swords would have remained in our sheaths

“It’s about a style of play, a culture in the locker room and that’s the big thing we’ve tried to impose on the football team the last two weeks,” Diaz said. “All of the great Miami teams, great Miami players have come back and told us Miami was great because the locker room controlled the locker room.”

Listening now. Im at the part where Diaz said Miami is at their best when they play with swagger. 👍👌

That's what worries me.

Today's kids just aren't wired the same.

Today's great teams are great because they stack talent. You could MAYBE argue Clemson has this type of culture in the locker room. I just don't know.

Phenomenal interview. The reason why I wanted Manny even before Richt was gone was because he understands, more than most of us, what made the program great. I really am confident that he's gonna be here a very long time and will return us to greatness.

Things are not that different. We actually now have elite facilities for the first time ever. Yes, we will lose the majority of divas from South Florida, but: (1.) the allure of "South Beach life"; (2.) being a top-50 University; and (3.) two newly constructed "football" buildings; makes UM an attractive destination for all metropolitan players.

A season in which Miami is the second worst offensive team in the NCAA is unacceptable; especially when one considers that the defense was much more bereft than the offense post-Golden. Richt walked into Allison and Kaaya.... One side of the ball peaked in year 3, while the other side reached a nadir.

More patience wouldn't have helped with Richt. The game had passed him by in terms of fielding a competent offense. He didn't want to start over and go back to the drawing board.

As others say, well worth a listen. Great questions, great answers. Gives some insight into Manny's awareness, judgment and ability to communicate. We couldn't have found a better voice to market Miami football to everyone who matters.

As far as fan impatience, our fans have gotten it right for the most part. We were supportive of the team/coaches during the 10-0 run, but there was a lot of uneasiness up until ND because of the way we were underperforming and squeaking by in games like UNC. We were playing badly in many ways but rescuing ourselves with an incredible number of turnovers, which is not sustainable in the long run. It all came crashing down starting with Pitt, and the fan analysis just incorporated all the prior observations of poor offensive scheme and playcalling into their 2018 assessments. It was absolutely clear to anyone who paid attention that a change was necessary BECAUSE the issues were so obvious and were not getting fixed. Thankfully Richt understood this too at the end of the year and did the honorable thing.

Diaz hasn't won a game yet, but I'm starting to get the feeling that after all of our years of horrible luck, we finally lucked out big time (maybe like with Clemson/Dabo) by having someone with unique talents already in the U family.
