Manny on Joe Rose

Just firing the OC isn’t going to fix anything though. Enos basically forced Diaz to fire him, There needs to be changes drastically to the whole staff, until he does that he’s stubborn just like Richt and Golden.
Wrong. We have one of the top defenses in the ACC. Although not elite his defense isn't as bad as Richt and Golden's offense and defense respectfully

Wrong.
fixing it would mean admitting culture wasn’t fixed when he said it was.
fixing it would mean admitting your recruiting efforts with local schools need a lot of work, not throwing out a few examples to say ”see nothing to see here”.
you guys gotta look more closely. He’s conning you again.
No. I don't think he will succeed.

“You have a defense finished top 15 in the country, recruiting class top 15, improvements coming in placekicking, we got the culture fixed. We didn’t get the offense fixed, and that’s on me. We have another opportunity to get it done again, have some exciting guys out there very interested in coming to the University of Miami.”

Is there enough talent on this roster for a quick fix?

“We have certainly enough in our locker room to compete,” Diaz said. “We defeated the Coastal champions (Virginia) in our stadium this year. At this place there’s always a comparison of our teams and our teams in the past. Look, we have to recruit to that and that’s happening. But we have enough. Now what do you do? There’s three things. Your who, how and what. The what is what are we doing schematically, the who is who do you have doing it and the how is how are they doing it. And that’s the culture. I do think we laid down a good culture, the guys competed. Every article said will the guys even show up in the bowl game. The guys competed as if the game meant everything to them. So there’s something there. The who we have, we’re going to continue to recruit. We love the recruiting class we have going in but we have guys in the locker room dedicated to being the solution. We’ve had to make changes in tactics, how we were moving the ball and scoring points on offense, we weren’t getting it done. There’s the team in that locker room that is good enough to compete and get back here in two weeks and get ready for spring ball.”

Manny says the culture is fixed.

So is he lying or does he realize how much he hamstrung his team hiring such a poor fit for his team?

"Manny" hasn't set this program back. Blake James, the President, the BOT and the new 6 or 7 win standard that they want is where this program is at.

Stop solely blaming one person for this.
The post is about Manny - so staying on topic, my commentary was on him. I'm aware that the problem extends well beyond and I've given to the causes, financially, to address this mess. I'm gonna assume you have as well - since your lecturing me on where the problem is.

The O line, of course, has also been an issue.

Asked about the talent in that group, Diaz said, “Every position, look, we’re trying to upgrade everything we have. Is it good enough? It is absolutely. We have guys that are good enough to compete. … there’s going to be some growing pains that we’re paying for sins of the past (with poor O line recruiting).”

He added “There are a couple of transfers we’re trying to get in.”

At receiver, Diaz said - with guys not seeming to get open - “Well, Louisiana Tech, on first and second down they’re going to play very soft umbrella zone coverage. So they’re going to flood the field with a bunch of bodies. That has less to do with route running 101 or whatever. I saw our guys improve as route runners this year. The issue quite simply again is the enormity of offense and the enormity of plays that can you really detail out, be outstanding at. And what are you doing to get the defense out of their comfort zone? Those are two things that as time went on did not happen.”

This is good stuff. Really good stuff.

Only thing, if he isn’t as candid about some of the defensive failures, he is just deflecting and hasn’t truly had his come to Football Jesus moment.

Yeah it ain’t 1983 and you won’t win very many 10-7 score games.

But the defense left wins on the field failing with 4th quarter leads.

That has to be addressed if he wants to turn the corner.

He actually said “we got the culture fixed”?

can someone confirm?

There ain’t as much quit in the team as people think.

They play slow because of the lack of confidence.

Thinking on the field makes you look like pure trash.

We have to revamp the offense and get the team playing successful in practice.

I knew we were doomed because we never got good reports about the offense and if your defense isn’t elite (we are pretty good overall, nowhere near elite) it does not bode well.

My bad, I didn’t know your were counting video games as athletic feats. So since you’re talking about video games, I’m pretty sure he was a good football, basketball and baseball VIDEO game player because he for **** sure never actually played any of those sports In a physical way

Its well documented he didn’t play sports beyond pee wee football, when he was 7 or 8 years old. He never ever played HS ball...or even JV ball, for that matter

He did play at country day.

“The issue is the enormity of offense and plays, can you detail that out and be outstanding at it?”

Dude just spews a bunch of gibberish that means absolutely nothing and people fall for it.

LOL at believing the guy that “feels good” about landing Stevenson, Flowe and countless others has been in contact with 7 to 8 OC’s.

That means he spoke to 3, left a message for 1 and got a text back from the other 3 saying “Sorry I can’t talk right now”

Exactly! LOL

If you don’t think there doesn’t need to be more changes than I am baffled. This isn’t just about gameday, although it can be better by a lot. We need help with recruiting on the defensive side of the ball.

And to be fair it’s really the one redeeming quality I’ve had for Manny. I never thought he was a great DC but he was a stark contrast philosophically to Richt, Golden, Shannon etc where they were more like “my way is the right way you all just don’t get it”

Manny has shown he’s much more willing to make changes.

Ultimately doesn’t mean much but...it’s a hopeful change of pace from the last few HC’s
With offense - not on defense where he has his stooges in place.

Talk is cheap.... actions speak louder than words. Let me see positive results on the field where it matters most.

Said Blake told him he can make any changes he wants on the staff.
He said he could make any changes? Wow that’s shocking! It should have been you MUST make changes. Geez give me a break. Blake should have asked him how much he needs $$$&. to bring in a top tier set of offensive coaches. My god!

It is a mystery. I've been thinking on some words to this effect for a few weeks now.

TBH...Blake isn't the problem per se IF the right coach can be found. Blake is 99% of what college campus industry types are: 150% non-confrontational betas. Not good, not bad, just are.

A reason Blake needs to go is his inability to get some savage "who do we hire to fix this" advice. He clearly became enamored of Manuela as the DC, and thought it would translate to HC role.

Back.to my first point, IF the right coach can be put into play, Blake is not the problem because he (like the rest) is to much of a herbivore who in his wdest dreams couldn't command a carnivore.

A Schnelly/JJ/Butch personality would mushroom stamp Blake anytime they wanted to. Blake is no meddling Jerry Jones type in this arena because he knows better (thank god).

SO, if by some miracle the hiring process for Manuela's replacement does select the saviour, Blake can keep shaking hands, kissing babies, and raising money while a true savage is rebuilding Miami's brand and on-field play.

This of course is theoretical. The BEST solution is a fund raising, **** on wheels, knows outstanding performance AD type, who will then surround him/herself with coaches across all sports to be the same.

Oh dare we dream a little dream.
The tooth fairy is outside your door..
Cute, cool, but got to wait for the real stuff to grow in.
We are waiting.... Manny, and Blake HAVE to go.

Said the same crap last year, going to go up tempo, put pressure on the defence. Blah blah blah blah

Lose me at the hope I have that he can hire a good OC and succeed. He's already failed miserably in year 1 and will be fired after year 2 if he doesn't rectify things. I still have hope that he can fix things considering he paid $2M+ for one year of Enos. That was not an easy decision but showed Manny is willing to do whatever it takes.

Manny didn't pay a **** thing for Enos. He spent the school's money on a washed up bum of an OC. In one season he's proven to be a terrible game day coach, terrible game planner, terrible motivator, terrible judge of coaches. He's all around terrible in every aspect of being a college football HC.
