Manny (likely) staying (through the end of season, TBD thereafter)

Still not sure why firing the coach mid-season would make any difference. I get it if the whole team has given up and the locker room is a mess but regardless of Manny’s poor strategy and defensive game planning, the team is still playing hard for him. The few guys who did quit did the team a favor. Let the season play out and barring a miracle (I’m talking about winning the ACC and the Orange Bowl), then you can bring in a new coach.

Frenk and his people are playing the fanbase like the suckers he believes them to be, and honestly I don't blame him. Guy has survived in jobs that require political antennae, which means he should be able to read a room quite well. This entire article reads like some erotic fan fiction novel, because it is everything our fanbase wants, logic be damned. I'm curious as to why anyone would believe that the people at UHealth would tolerate subsidizing the athletic department long term. Odds are this one time cash infusion(If that) is a loan or something and the AD better swim on their own really quickly. No other major school in the country takes from other departments to fund athletics, unless there's some catastrophic loss(IE Covid). Maybe that's how it was pitched to the powers that be at UHealth, but I would be shocked if this was viewed as a long term solution. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if what is truly happening is that someone like the Soffers are stepping up financially, but want to keep it quiet. Navarro was fed some nonsense as a smokescreen, and our fanbase ran with it. A donor doing the work is the sustainable option, because there's no way that UHealth will continually subsidize a department that should be self supporting, if competently managed.

We all knew that unless it got super toxic, Manny wasn't getting fired. The ONLY reason Golden got fired in the middle of the season was because it got to be untenable to keep him after the Clemson loss and death threats. Miami was willing to eat money, just because having him on the field to finish the season would have been even worse. Manny wins out, he still gets canned, but it allows Miami to at least have some positive momentum going into the process. The issue is not having your permanent AD in place limits your candidate pool, because no one wants to end up working under an AD that didn't hire them. I would expect Miami to have already gotten a commitment in regards to an AD, especially if Blake is being evaluated. You hire an AD, you let him deal with Manny. That means that he may even get one more year, ala LSU with Orgeron last year. That lowers the buyout even more, sets clear expectations, and gives the new AD time to get the fundraising apparatus up to where he can quickly move on their desired candidate. This all centers around Blake. Blake gets canned soon, Manny may be out the door sooner than later, especially if a new AD is quickly hired. If not, then Diaz returns for next season.

What you are saying is correct and I think many people fail to understand that. The article specifically says Snake James can't fire Diaz in an attempt to save his own ***. That should make everyone very happy. Then the article says the BOT is also evaluating how bad all three of the revenue sports have become under his tenure. Translation: he's getting fired. Next guy can decide if Diaz stays or goes. Im going to pray to the football and basketball gods for Tom Jurich. Give me Lane Kiffin (I will also accept Luke Fickell) and Rick Pitino, and let's call it a day.
How about we hire a basketball coach that isn't a senior citizen? Hire a coach that can build a long term program, instead of a guy that will cut every corner to win now, long term viability be damned? You have a solid base of talent with what L has brought in. You get some bigs worth a **** and you can possibly be back in the tournament in year one, provided L retires after this season(Which is a very distinct possibility, considering what I've heard from some people with knowledge of the program).

Agree. At this point and with the last 2 wins, it makes sense to let the season play out with Manny as HC. If he serves up a blowout loss, then that changes the narrative. The focal point now should be replacing Blake. Dealing with the football HC should come after his replacement is on board.

I'm with you on this if this team goes on a run you have to give Manny another year.. Butch Davis went through this same type of situation athletic department not investing in football program.. get rid of Blake snake and see what we can really do with real support. I don't like Diaz either but **** our kids do and you don't just throw that away get out yall feelings and support these kids Tvd is the future and the let Manny bring in a real DC and Special teams coach..

That's on Blake the snake facts everyone needs to be bringing pressure on him more than Manny straight facts.. snake is more the problem than anything

Same. Didn’t go into detail and I call bs on that lol. I know you can’t move earmsrked donations around but they’re talking bout profit u health made
They didn't go into detail because they are pulling a snow job. I wouldn't be shocked if UHealth is making a loan or one time cash infusion to the athletic department, using COVID related losses as some kind of cover story. That said, UHealth won't be consistently doing that, and the athletic department should be able to swim on its own, with competent leadership. No school in the country is straight up robbing Peter to pay Paul to subsidize athletics, unless there's a catastrophic loss(IE COVID). I'm sure that Miami athletics has a donor in the pipeline that is stepping up as well, making it palatable to the powers that be at UHealth. UHealth will not be tapping into their profits on a regular basis to fund a department that gets to keep EVERYTHING it makes, doesn't have to share a dime with anyone else and when things are going well can be quite cash rich(relatively speaking).

If nothing else, we learned that Snake James' little stunt with that statement before NC State has no teeth. He can't fire Manny if he wants to. If he has no power, that means he's done.
I said in another thread that stunt he pulled before the NCST game proves what an incompetent fool he is. No other AD worth his salt would have done something like that. Any credibility he had beforehand (and it was a drop in a 5 gallon bucket to begin with) is completely wiped out now.

Although I’d prefer Manny would have been fired after UNC, I’m somewhat indifferent now whether Manny gets fired now are after the last game. The recruiting class is F’ed so what’s the difference

Honestly if they truly are going all in on MC, then hiring him after his early Jan date where the buyout drops down isn’t the end of the world. Especially if we make a bowl game which seems pretty likely at this point.

It aint Kiffin.
It aint Kiffin.
If this schools master plan and “reinvestment” into the football program is to hire Mark Stoops then I’m out

With everything that has happened over the past 20yrs and all this talk of change, and your grand idea is to hire a middle of the road SEC coach??? Who I’d guarantee if he didn’t have UM ties you wouldn’t even consider

I’m of the opinion that manny can still be fired at 8-4 if we don’t sneak into coastal winner. Anything below 8 is a sure firing
