Losing Diaz will most likely expedite Richt's departure. Our defense will most likely regress, as it is difficult to replicate the stats they put up on a consistent basis under his watch. Without our defense, we'd be at least a 6-6, maybe 5-7 team this year.

This is all on Mark Richt. His unwillingness to get an OC to bail Manny out was the handwriting on the wall. I don’t blame Manny one bit. His unit is the ONLY reason we’re not 4-6.

Nonetheless, Diaz is gone, so all that above is moot.

With a solid hire I think we can still have a top 10 defense with our current players. Hard to replicate stats year to year because of player turnover, etc. Richt has made some pretty good hires in the past no matter how you feel about his stubbornness on offense. I think he will hire a good/solid DC. No reason not to think so if you are thinking objectively.

I agree, but that's still a very talll order, no matter who comes on board.

I don't have too many concerns on the defensive end, but I do have serious concerns about our offense and special teams units.

Until those areas are addressed, we are in major trouble, as is evidenced by our defense's performance (in spite of the "scene" our OCs and STC displayed).
