As much as I want him to succeed here, I am not sure he will unless he makes big changes on his staff ASAP.

He already did. 5 games in. He is taking a new role in the defense, which sounds like a demotion for the DC.

The guy has proven repeatedly throughout his career that he is not afraid to adjust.

The output has not been great this year (although looks better analytically since we've been in every game until the very end), but the inputs (i.e. the things he can control) have been great. This is encouraging.

He hired a JV staff and now we see the results. Only coach with a quality resume was Enos. Lets go through it:

Stroud - a strength coach last year
banda - former bartender
Patke - was a GA last year
Blake Baker - La Tech DC. Ok at least he was a coordinator but no experience calling plays in P5.
Rumph - I think we all like Rumph as a CB coach.

Enos - qualified OC with experience.
Stubblefield - Air force wr coach (they run triple option). Never been in the same place for more than a year (red flag you think?)
Hickson - Akron RB coach. Akron may currently be the worst team in FBS
Barry - ASSISTANT OL coach for the Bucs. No experience in a P5 conference.
Field - I like Field. First year as a position coach

We are getting what we have paid for guys.

Yet the only coach with a quality resume has arguably been THE worst of them all. Let that sink in.

Unlike you, I don't downvote. But the time for adjustment was after our loss at Florida. That didn't happen and we lost to UNC. There was another opportunity after squeaking by CMU. The only adjustments I saw were on offense and we managed to score more 35 points when we didn't turn it over.

Analytics and stats are fine, but they should be used to reach your goals, not be the goal. If there's anything about this year that's been "great", it had nothing to do with the coaching staff.

I didn't downvote. There is a button that says "dumb", and suggesting that a first time HC should be fired or resign after 5 games is dumb, so I pressed that button.

If you could go back in time and get rid of any of our past cavalcade of failed coaches 5 games in, would you? Do you honestly believe Manny will be able to turn this around? I'm as rational as they come, but I've seen this show before and there are no plot twists. This is a downward spiral.

I do believe Manny CAN turn it around. I'm not 100% confident, but we're not going to bring in a coach that we will be 100% confident in. There are maybe 3-4 of those guys (Saban, Dabo, Meyer - and that might be it), and we're not getting them. There are obviously some similarities with the way we've played so far and the way we started out with our previous coaches, but it's overly simplistic to say Manny is exactly the same as the previous coaches because of that. There are similarities with the way Saban started at Bama, too. What will determine Manny's success is if he can improve the team over time, which the other coaches couldn't do, or couldn't sustain (in Richt's case).

Asking if I would go back in time and fire those coaches 5 games in is wholly unreasonable. Obviously, everyone would do that in hindsight.

So the answer is...no, I wouldn't do that. If I could go back in time I would pull a Biff from Back to the Future and make a ton of money betting against Miami.

While I get your point & agree with what you're saying, some of this is inaccurate.

Stroud was the DL Coach at Akron, he hasn't been a strength coach since FSU in 09.

Patke was a full time position coach last year, he was a Quality Control analyst in 2016 & 17 then was hired to be the full time OLB's/Strikers Coach in 2018 on Richt's staff. Then when Diaz took over was named as the Special Teams coach along with still be OLB/Strikers Coach. Idk why Manny loves this guy so much but he's a disposable coach imo.

Hickson was the RB coach at Kansas State last year & their top RB Alex Barnes lead the Big XII in rushing with 1,355yds. He was hired because he's a local South Fla guy from Ft. Lauderdale & knows a lot of the HS coaches in Broward. He hasn't been a disappointment imo, considering how awful the OL is I think Deejay & Cam have looked pretty good. Sucks that Lingard hasn't been allowed to play, but that's not his fault.

Agree on Stubblefield, maybe he's a technically savvy coach, but I don't think he'll be able to recruit well enough to be here for the long haul, definitely wasn't a coach on my radar & Manny definitely shouldn't have let Enos have Carte-Blanche in hiring him. I'd like to see us go get DJ McCarthy, he would do well here.

Barry turned out to be another bad hire due to Manny essentially letting Enos bring his guy from CMU with him. Don't know how TF we got worse on the OL after Stacy Seashells but we somehow managed to do it even with a dude who spent 4 years in the NFL lol smh.

Coach Field was good pickup, he does have prior position coach experience but it was just 1 year as a TE's coach at FAMU & 3 years as a RB coach at Hampton. But he has very good experience as a Director of recruiting at Oregon & had a similar role at Louisville, plus he's been an OC at the High School level for many years & coached at a bunch of local South Fla schools including MNW, Miami Central, DFB, Glades Central & PBL. He was also a quality control coach at Miami for 2 years under Shannon & helped us bring in quite a few players. Brevin has played well with him as a TE coach imo.

Agree with your overall point though, we have an unproven staff that appears to be way in over their heads, but I don't put it on the assistant coaches (except Enos & Baker), it's mainly on the HC for hiring them, it was his responsibility to surround himself with a strong staff & he unfortunately made some wrong picks.

He let Enos bring in Stubbs & Barry, which was a bad move & he gave Baker too much power from the jump letting him change the Defense around too much. He also fcked up by not bringing Fran Brown in & giving him Co-DC title, he would've had to get rid of Banda to do so, which we all know he's not doing that.

Would it be safe to say that a win over UVa is a must. I can see VTech looding another game soon. Beat UVa and Duke and we can still win the coastal?

Mathematically, we’re still in this thing.....

I said it when you hired him....total Diaz-aster. Go get Venables......Miami should be undefeated, they have the talent but no direction......17 points against CMU? Losing to a bad V Tech and NC? Bringing Tate and putting him over at receiver? Diaz as DC at Texas gave up 118 points in 2 years to Landry Jones.....and that guy is less mobile than a statue.
