I don't understand this line of thinking. As if what a coach did for his career should have no bearing bc he didn't do it at Miami.

It goes hand in hand with the absurd belief that anybody can easily coach Miami to championships.

I think we really have people who legitimately believe that all you have to do it hand a guy a manual that says "4 Defensive Linemen, 3 Linebackers" and it's instant defensive domination.

Here's a link to a Mississippi State board. Most of their posters are happy he's going. I saw mention of his bend but don't break defense that gives up big plays and I also saw mention of MSU players trashing Diaz on twitter.

Yep. **** I wish Richt wasn't so bad at hiring DCs. We might have actually fielded a solid defense this year.

Last year Mississippi State ranked 56 in Total Defense. The year before Louisiana Tech was ranked 35 in Total Defense when Diaz was there. Before that at Texas: 2013 (69), 2012 (68), 2011 (11).

His record shows that the last time he had a stellar defense was 2011. It wasn't so outrageous to criticize the hire based on previous results. This year we should finish in the Top 20 and I think we'll lead in Tackles for Loss.... a big improvement for us and Diaz.

if there was an asst coach of the years in NCAA, it should be Diaz. The improvement on defense was remarkable. Now just need to hope he sticks around, If a team needed a DC, he would be 1st on my want list. Not sure if he has head coach aspirations but might be a wanted guy in a year or so at a smaller school.

Naw as you can see above I wanted him out way before the 2015 season. I started losing faith in golden when we lost to va tech duke and Louisville in the final 5 or so games of 2013 at the end. Also during that penn state debacle when he went into hiding

It just goes to show you no two situations are the same. I had some skepticism given the resumes some of Richt's other DCs had.

Personally, I don't care and never cared what he did at LT and MSU. No one has been able to consistently produce at those school in years.

Texas was a sinking ship and Mack Brown was far too ripe of a peach to keep hoping he'd get it turned around.

OTOH, what Diaz does works really well at Miami. Clearly, his fast, aggressive level of play frustrates the **** out of offense and jives with the highly athletic South Florida players.
